#Ontario: The last time we were over 300+ #COVID19 cases/day was in early June.🦠

We should avoid lockdowns, but limit high-risk situations (indoor gatherings?), to keep schools open & protect the vulnerable.

What's the plan @celliottability @fordnation?🌊
#UnsafeSeptemberON
~50% of cases have an unknown source of transmission. Is it indoor gatherings? Bars? Restaurants?Gyms?

Don't panic. Focus on what you can control for yourself - avoid high risk situations, stay home if sick, & remember distancing, hand-washing, masks.
The test % positivity is also increasing & tests have mostly plateaued.
Rapid, cheap, easy testing needs to be approved & available ASAP to help identify & limit transmission.

All of my 3 kids have had their education severely hampered and disrupted by @fordnation and @Sflecce in the past 12 months. An unannounced claw back of 83% to the oldest's OSAP, failures to negotiate in good faith with teachers resulting in strike days and now...
complete disregard for all kid's health and safety #UnsafeSeptemberON . By the time the next prov election rolls around, all of them will be old enough to vote. Add to that my traditionally Cons voter boomer relatives because they're now "embarrassed" by your party.
I have siblings as well who have teens who are just as pissed and those teens will vote. This is what we call #newmath @Sflecce . Extrapolate that into the number of On families who are as fed up with your laziness and ineptitude to work with education professionals.

There is something I need to get off my chest. A few days ago, @fordnation said that comparing the hiring of OPP officers to funding a safe school reopening is like comparing apples and oranges.
He then went on to compare teachers returning to work to supermarket workers during the height of the pandemic. I believe he said that it is time for teachers to step up now. I think that is a little like comparing apples and oranges.
So let’s compare teachers returning to schools and supermarket workers. When I visited a supermarket back in March I had to wait outside for about 45 minutes because the local Zehr’s had a limit on the number of people allowed in the building.

I’m seeing a lot of responses suggesting that ‘no amount is enough’ to satisfy the demands for safety in the classroom during this pandemic. This is tired and it’s wrong. The right amount is what we need to make our schools safe, as we’re doing everywhere else right now. #onted Image
The premier tells us he ‘won’t spare a penny’, but his actions don’t match his words. I know the pain of losing a child to preventable illness, knowing that as communities, we didn’t do enough to protect him. It’s devastating, and nearly impossible to bear. #UnsafeSeptemberON Image
Only this govt can take action now to protect our families this fall. The premier tells us it’s not his plan, but it is. He owns this, and we all know it. @fordnation, we need you to give us a safer return to schools. Everyone in the province will be at risk if you fail. #onted Image

Without fail, when I question why the govt is neglecting to take recommended steps to protect our kids, ed workers, families, and communities, someone will respond:

'He doesn't care.' 'They don't care.'

This is how Ontarians feel.

#UnsafeSeptemberON #onted @fordnation @Sflecce
The premier tells us our kids' safety is his highest priority, but why aren't we seeing that in these plans? Why isn't he taking the advice we've all heard the experts give him? He says he 'won't spare a penny,' but we're still waiting for enough funding. Why?
I know how others will answer that question. I wonder if the premier and MoE would feel comfortable knowing that's the perception of Ontario parents. I don't believe he wants to endanger our families, but I wonder why he isn't willing to do what it takes to keep us safer. #onpoli

SickKids told @fordnation that smaller class sizes were a priority.

He keeps referencing his four daughters, and how nervous he'd be. But my kids are in school now and they're not doing enough to make classrooms safe.

Smaller class sizes.

"We're doing everything in our powers through the medical advice." -@fordnation

Classes are still too big.
HVAC isn't happening.
No mandatory masking for K-3.
Insufficient #sickdays to enable parents to keep sick kids home.

It's not good enough.

"I'm always going to listen to the doctors, I'm not going to listen to the unions."

Doctors are telling you we need smaller class sizes. Why aren't we doing this?

1/ @Sflecce @krushowy @l_stone I had to make the decision for my son's school on Wed, with full classes and NO SAFETY protocol b/c MoE hasn't provided it yet. and told 180mins of synch learning. now he "might" have smaller classes but 225mins of learning.
2/ with less than 19 days to go. as a parent, we did everything @fordnation asked of ON. we didn't go to the cottage @ easter, nor have ppl over on Mothers day. we stay 2m apart, limit travel and bubble of 3
3/ I wait outside Starbucks when there are more than SIX ppl in line. now, schools have NO BUBBLES, full buses and don't how to pay for the internet streaming that we will need. @Sflecce you have had at least FIVE MONTHS to figure this out. #UnsafeSeptemberON
