As a pediatrician who, like all pediatricians, spent 11 years (minimum) in higher education and training, it is absolutely astonishing to me that ppl w no medical training whatsoever think they have equivalent knowledge because they have internet

2/ access and a social network. I once had a conversation w a parent who questioned the safety of #vaccines and chose not to vaccinate his child (well... until the child was 2 and they wanted daycare and then it was inconvenient to be unvaccinated...)

The list of anti-vax claims gets longer by the day, but none are supported by research (which is quite different from “search”).
Take a moment to think about their talking points, many of which refute each other.

“MMR causes autism!” claim came from the ORIGINAL “paid pharma shill” who took money to falsify data on 12 kids. Dozens of real studies involving millions of kids proved that claim was false.
Then came “it’s thimerosal!”, which was never in MMR and was removed in 2001.

Only multi-dose flu vaccine has Thimerosal as a preservative, which has also been shown to be harmless in the quantity in a vaccine.

So. Because I haven't done this in a while, here's what happened to me when I got chicken pox: A story of why you should vaccinate your kids against it. And yourself if you haven't caught it already.
Chicken pox is a pretty common illness that is usually deeply unpleasant but not super dangerous. Well apparently my immune system didn't get the message. Little history about me: I was born 10 weeks preemie, and as a result I have had shitty lungs my whole life (aka, asthma).
So because of that, I am at high risk for any infectious illness. I get bronchitis with every cold, nearly die with every flu (get yer flu shot!), and just generally have a miserable time whenever I get sick. Kid!me was no exception.
