.@ShyamalMajumdar Never expected @bsindia to be so shoddy on #FactCheck (that too in an editorial - not op-Ed). #MadhyaPradesh have been following vaccine holidays since May (see 👇). Besides, as a business daily BS ought to know basic principles Ops Management. This obsession
2/n to diss the #VaccineDrive even by respectable newspapers is baffling. Be that as it may 1) Inventory Management is neither usual nor a sin. It is routine practice in any ops 2) It is common sense that when supply chain is shifted from one channel to another (in this case 3/n
3/n from States to Centre) some dislocation is inevitable (in your and mine home state liquor distribution was disrupted for 3 months when the state took it over through its own agency😀); 3) Surge Tests are standard - to establish capacity, build confidence by demonstrating 4/n

#Thread #VaccinationDrive in Tiruppur. Whatever vaccine supply is available, we are distributing it population wise to PHCs and UHCs. From there we are issuing Advance tokens henceforth using a team - VAO, Panchayat secretary and VHN. Only those with the token are requested to
Visit the Vaccination centre to prevent crowding and spread of infection. Unnecessary gathering at vaccination centres will only make our situation worse. For example in a village with 12000 population , if we announce that 500 vaccines would be available
Next day then imagine the crowd that will be present at the centre next day ! We are trying our best and fighting hard to ensure that the vaccine reaches each and every eligible individual in the district. I know it’s difficult but request all to support

First 10 days 20 idlis were available for 10 people everyday (60+ category). Because of hesitancy only 2 people ate and16 were wasted. Next 10 days 50 idlis for 25 people per day (45+ category). Again 15 people ate & 20 idlis were wasted. 1/n
Opposition parties wanted it to open for all and centre agreed. As per current available capacity 200 idlis can be prepared per day for 100 people. Now, 18+ & all those who were hesitant have lined up and questioning govt. Current requirement is 500 per day. 2/n
Further, as per agreement, some idlis are to be given free to grocery supplier for distribution amongst poor. Instead of educating & saving the public, opposition parties behaved irresponsibly. They created doubt & fear about idlis saying that there is poison in idli. 3/n

But this is a mere eyewash because-
1.This has been left to the discretion of the respective state/ UT governments
2.This shall be implemented only if vaccine has been left unutilised from online registrations and that too at Government CVCs.
#VaccineFor18Plus #VaccineForAll
While this has been stated in a press release, the #CoWIN website’s FAQs still state that online registration is mandatory for 18-44 age group.

This a thread from friend in #Colombo #SriLanka who tried to get 2nd #AstraZeneca/covisheild dose yesterday. #LKA #VaccinationDrive is for the rich & powerful first!

"The 14th started on a innocuous note. We're all in travel restriction, can't step out of our house-well & good
"Then around 1030am I hear on the grapevine that vaccinations are taking place at the town hall... okay... I've had the first round and I'm theoretically due for the second round within the next four weeks so I braved arrest and went there with my vaccination card in hand..
Joined the queue and waited. Whilst waiting, I realised that this queue was not going anywhere. While we were standing there, a whole lot of people were being taken in completely ignoring the queue. A gentleman behind me in the queue went up to the security....

#coronavirus: One chart shows how dramatically the pace of #vaccinations differs from country to country

businessinsider.in/science/news/o…
#coronavirusvaccine: Epidemiologists have estimated that countries will need to vaccinate around 75% of their populations to reach #herdimmunity - the threshold beyond which the #coronavirus can no longer spread easily from person to person.
For many nations, that's a far-off goal. At the current rate of 110,000 vaccinations per day, it could take Japan eight months to immunize just a quarter of its population, and more than two years to immunize 75%.

A narrative is being peddled that the #COVID19India crisis is due to these factors

1. Modi & Team claimed victory & did nothing
2. Modi allowed election rallies & #Kumbh which caused the #CoronaSecondWave
3. Now @narendramodi is not giving oxygen, medicines & vaccines to states
Let us see what facts can be ascertained by looking at the numbers.

On Feb 1, daily new cases in India had dropped to 85790. Two third of these new cases from the states of Maharastra & Kerala, blessed with best CM & best health minister in the country.

#CoronaSecondWave Image
By 15th Feb, daily new cases had risen to 15614. Punjab joined Maharastra and Kerala in the top 3 states and they contributed 12,126 new cases. 78% of all new cases in the country

Kerala had seen high cases even in Dec-Jan period when rest of country was witnessing decline Image

My parents are doctors so we took both doses in March. Last week my family tested +ve. All of them had mild symptoms. All of them are on the road to recovery. This is to tell you vaccine DOES NOT prevent infection. But it CAN SAVE LIVES. #GetVaccinated #VaccinationDrive
My grandparents also tested positive and have recovered as well. No fever since 2 days. They had yet to take the 2nd dose.

There are multiple things which have led to this outcome:
1. Vaccination. Our family of 5 had taken at least 1 dose of vaccine. And my parents and I being HCWs had taken both.

2. Early testing. The day one had fever the person got tested. Screened with RAT and then with RT PCR if RAT was -ve.
