🧵1. Until when will you be able to get a #Pfizer #COVID19 jab in SA?

Most likely only until July 31st, says @HealthZA. After that only #JnJ will be available.

Why? SA has received all the doses it's procured from Pfizer and the last batch expires on July 31.
2. How many #COVID19 jabs has SA received?

Total: 60,6 million

- #Pfizer: 39,272,220 (this includes US donations and jabs we got via #Covax)
- #JnJ: 21,333,840 (we also got 500,000 for #Sisonke1 + 250,00 for #Sisonke2)

Full story: bit.ly/3CuMGeI
3. How many of the jabs #VaccineRolloutSA has received has been distributed? (Distributed = they've been transported to provinces. All distributed shots have not necessarily been used yet.)

-#Pfizer: 66% of received jabs = distributed
-#JnJ: 42% of received jabs = distributed

BREAKING [Thread] 1. @SAHPRA1 has approved a 2nd dose of #JnJ and heterologous (mix/match) booster for adults:

1. If u had a JnJ jab, u can get a booster @ least 2 mnths after 1 JnJ shot
2. If u had a #Pfizer jab, u can get a JnJ booster @ least 6 mnths after a 2nd Pfizer jab
2. Does @SAHPRA1's approval mean you can have a #Pfizer booster after a #JnJ shot?

NO. It’s only the other way around (a #JnJ booster after a 2nd #Pfizer shot) that has been approved as a “mix and match” booster.
3. Why does @sahpra1’s “mix and match” approval not allow for a #Pfizer booster after a #JnJ shot?

Pfizer hasn’t submitted data to Sahpra for approval (#JnJ submitted the data 4 a #JnJ booster after #Pfizer).

[Thread] 1. Acting Health Minister Mammoloko Kubayi-Ngubane: We have vaccinated more than 2.5 million people. The education sector has managed to vaccinated 50 000+ people per day. At this rate the school programme will finish within 10 days.
2. Mammoloko Kubayi-Ngubane: Demand among 60+ for #VaccineRollout has decreased. Reasons:
1. Vaccine hesistancy,
2. Some sites are not easily accessible;
3. Lack of access to internet/data for registration
3. Mammoloko Kubayi-Ngubane: To address the decrease in demand for 60+, vaccine sites will be conducting co-ordinated walk-ins so that more 60+ can get vaccinated easier.

1/ @AndrewBowie_MP on #PoliticsLive, repeating ad nauseam, the predictable #Tory lines that EVERYTHING #DominicCummings said yesterday was only HIS OPINION, that we must focus our minds on the #VaccinationRollout & that “PEOPLE” just don’t care.
2/ Like the many thousands of HCW & SCW colleagues who have worked right through the pandemic caring for ppl with #COVID19 & putting our lives (& the lives of our families) at risk on a daily basis w/ inadequate #PPE, I CARE VERY MUCH!
3/ The success of the #NHS #VaccineRollout CANNOT wipe away the trauma of all the lives lost & irrevocably damaged in the last year, much of it PREDICTED, AVOIDABLE & UNNECESSARY.

And I will not stand by letting this merry band of sycophantic @Conservatives MPs try to do so.

South Africa will be receiving another batch of the #Pfizer vaccine today. We know according to the Health Dep every Sunday from May to end of May we get 325 260 doses. This batch arriving today will mean SA has received over 1m Pfizer vaccines since start of May. #VaccineRollout
As of end of May South Africa will have over 1.3 million doses. As of June doses will double every Sunday to an average of 636 480 doses weekly which will see close to 4,5 million doses of #Pfizer by the end of June. #VaccineRolloutSA
Statement from Department of Health yesterday on how many have been vaccinated under #Phase2

“The total vaccinated in Phase Two as at 18.30 today is 162 281. These vaccinations were with the first dose of Pfizer vaccine.”

Remember when #ScottyWentOnAWarFooting? (No not China, that's a different war.) This was because of his govt's inability to organise the #vaccinerollout.
It was a #ScottyFromMarketing strategy to share blame with states & look like he was DOING SOMETHING. 1/
2/ #ScottyFromDamageControl called for National Cabinet to meet three times a week. Oh, & call in someone from the Navy who's good with logistics. They'd do all the heavy lifting & sort out the #vaccinerollout. Here's a photo illustrating how this works.
3/ Then at the top of the steep hill, he could be triumphant, "I did it! All by myself!"
Except something else has happened...Or gone wrong...
Scotty isn't at the top of the #vaccinerollout hill but he's taken of his marching boots & is no longer on a war footing. 🙄

Announcement from @fordnation sank my heart today. As an ER doctor, person of color and #Scarborough native, I feel defeated 😢. The measures are not going to get wave 3 under control. #BIPOC #ERdoc @SHNcares @torontolife @JustinTrudeau @SCMirror 1/
When I landed as an #immigrant in #Canada, my life started in #Scarborough. My parents (#heros) struggled to find jobs that matched their education. That didn't stop them from working hard / hustling even if it meant 2 jobs at times to keep bills paid and food on the table. 2/
My family lived in an apt building that had mostly racialized/middle-low income families (#affordability). Not much social distancing when large crowds wait for elevators (#EssentialWorkers) or use the shared laundry facilities. This pandemic brings back those vivid memories 3/

Dear @susannareid100 & @piersmorgan
In advance of your program tomorrow I wonder if I could ask for your help?
If any celebrity duo can make this happen, it is you two!
The ROAD MAP is here & there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.
There are many positives in the #PrimeMinister’s cautious approach but the BIG BANG opening of English schools on 8th March with very few added mitigations is reckless & irresponsible, risking everything we have collectively achieved so far.
We all know that schools & early years settings are risky places to work in. Whatever the stats tell us about teachers en masse, I feel that for individual staff, being forced to work in crowded, poorly ventilated rooms w/ many others protected by little #PPE , is a VERY BIG ASK!
