one of modern capitalism's most horrifying things -- the reinvention of indentured servitude in the form of things like Lambda School/BloomTech, and its found Austen Allred, who's startup famous for living out of his car for a few months in front of the Safeway on Market St

Ooo-wee! It's a sizzler down here in Texas today, calling for a #DavesCarIDService salute to clever heat-beating Houston oil man John Hamman. In 1930 had C&C Kelvinator install the world's first car air conditioning system on his 1929 Cadillac (wearing LaSalle wheels btw).
The Kelvinator on Hamman's Caddy was somewhat primitive, having its own motor. The first "factory" A/C (actual a very pricy aftermarket dealer option installed by B&B) was offered in 1940 Packard, followed by Cadillac in 1941 (L) and Chrysler/DeSoto in 1942 (R).
Those pre-war B&B A/C systems were very very rare; in fact there are only a handful of survivors. A/C as a true factory option would have to wait until the 1954 Nash and expensive GM models. Both Nash (Kelvinator) and GM (Frigidaire) relied on their own refrigerator brands.
That's the way - aha aha - we like it!

Wobei mein 'Wohncontainer' ganz schnöde 10*100W Solarmodule bekommt die man dann auch nach Lust und Laune abnehmen kann.
Und mit ein paar einfachen Kabeln geht das dann in eine EcoFlow Delta Pro nachdem mich @AkkuDoktor dafür so überzeugt hat.

some personal news: if you follow me on Instagram you’ve already heard—excited to share that I’m spending the next year living out of my van Barb full time to travel the state & register voters across Texas.
In Texas this presents a unique challenge: in order to legally register voters here you have to take a 90 minute course, an exam & register as a Deputy Voter Registrar w/ the county.
& that’s for each county where you plan to register voters.
& in Texas there are 254 counties.

So I’m getting registered in all 254 counties! And I’ll be getting a lot louder about what voter suppression looks like in Texas. All while living in a really cool tricked out van named Barb. Obviously named after my hero Barbara Jordan.
