शिखाबन्धन (वन्दन) आचमन के पश्चात् शिखा को जल से गीला करके उसमें ऐसी गाँठ लगानी चाहिये, जो सिरा नीचे से खुल जाए। इसे आधी गाँठ कहते हैं। गाँठ लगाते समय गायत्री मन्त्र का उच्चारण करते जाना चाहिये ।शिखा, मस्तिष्क के केन्द्र बिन्दु पर स्थापित है।
