The Seoul High Court in South Korea sentenced Samsung Electronics vice-chairman Lee Jae-Yong to 2.5 years in jail on January 18. 
"Lee actively provided bribes, and implicitly asked the president to use her power to help his smooth succession," the court said
Lee, 52, was convicted of bribery and was jailed in 2017. The sentence was then reduced and suspended on appeal. The Supreme Court had then sent the case to the Seoul High Court.
