Virtually ALL the polls in 2012 predicted a sure win for Danielle Smith and Wild Rose. They were wrong. Albertans were rightfully wary of having her as premier. Has she changed or improved? I’m so sick of her ‘Hey, I’m new at this’ schtick, as though that didn’t happen. 1/
As Nenshi and others have pointed out, if she now claims to disavow things she has been touting and advocating for for YEARS, like privatizing health care, what does she even stand for? Danielle has proven that she will say anything to get what she wants. 2/
Right now, Dani wants a 4 year mandate as premier, and what people *don’t* want is an Alberta Pension Plan, privatized health care, and Alberta Police. So she has either said she won’t talk about those until after the election or lied about them in order to mislead voters. 3/

I don't want us to be the benchmark in Canada anymore for other provinces to say, "At least we're not Alberta." I don't want to wake up every morning with a knot in my gut worrying about what unhinged decisions the UCP will make that day as they chase /1
their fever dream of being a US red state. I don't want to cringe every time Danielle Smith opens her mouth because she is either uninformed, misinformed, or saying things that show a lack of judgment and critical thinking skills. /2
I am sick of extremism in Alberta. I am tired of extremists feeling at home here. I am tired of people like Theo Fleury & Jamie Sale thinking AB is the perfect place to spew lies from. There is such a long list of extremist bad actors that flourish in AB./3

And now the 🧵 of 🧵s (Mega 🧵Parts 1-5). If you can make it through all of these threads and still vote UCP, I don't know what to say. Go out and vote like the future of Alberta is dependent on it because indeed it is. #Ableg #Abpoli #VoteNDP #FiretheUCP

I'm voting for the NDP in Alberta this election so that our granddaughters do not have to fight the fights of our grandmothers...for the right to use their own name, to publish books, to paint a painting under their own name and be able to earn a living selling their work 1/9
So they can decide the career they want to pursue without duress.
So they don't have to cross their legs to try and hold back labour while someone produces a credit card to pay the doctor like my mother had to do for the first 3 pregnancies 2/9
until we had #UniversalHealthcare in Canada.
So they don't have to endure forced pregnancies because of someone else's ideology.
So all children can get a good education NOT an indoctrination 3/9

As someone who opposes Islamophobia, why should I vote strategically for a party that drafted a dog-whistle bill around it or that voted for it, over the NDP who didn't?

As someone who supports labour organizing, why would I vote strategically for a party who doesn't want to strengthen labour laws to support workers during strikes and lockouts, when the NDP does?

#canlab #strike #Elxn44
As someone who wants trade deals that are good for Canada and Canadian workers and don't contain harmful ISDs and respect our sovereignty, why would I vote strategically for any party who undermines that? #trade #cdnecon #Elxn2021

@Scribulatora's post about #Pharmacare is baloney

Here's why:

First, the Hoskin's report that Liberals commissioned, says that there should be a Bill for Pharmacare passed BY January 2022. Bills pass 3 readings in the HoC before going to the Senate, they tabled NOTHING! (1/9)
Also, in the 2019 election, Liberals promised us Pharmacare and incumbent MP Patty Hajdu, just 3 MONTHS later, began walking back this promise in the media. (2/9)

#PromiseMadePromiseBroken #Elxn44 #ThunderBay
Add to that, in incumbent Chrystia Freeland's 2021 Budget, the Liberals allocated NOTHING NEW for Pharmacare!

And no Liberals, them topping up PEIs existing program, amounts to $54/person is NOT Pharmacare. It's a carrot to give you hope.

I’m so fucking sick of this shit, we’re now in the middle of a third wave, with a province wide shutdown, and we’re getting no help from the government despite Covid cases rising here in Ontario, and with everything from increased costs of using grocery delivery services ... 1/9
the rising cost of groceries, plus having to buy PPE, this is, well, let’s just call it what it is, the genocide and culling of disabled people by the government (both provincially and federally), especially when the only option in front of us is MAID ... 2/9
which the government has made clear by passing Bill C7, honestly how the fuck am I and others relying on social assistance expected to survive this pandemic, hell we’re not even prioritized early on the vaccine list despite many who are immunocompromised ... 3/9
