In next 30 years congress govt. never realise that india need more IITs.
Due to which student agitation in Assam forced Rajiv Gandhi to set up new IIT in guwahati.
Almost after 34 years, in 1995 , IIT Guwahati started.

After then BJP came in power. And what BJP did was actually very amazing.

BJP changes the name of an University of Roorkee to IIT Roorkee. And this way India got its 7th IIT in 2001.
