In 2014, Northwestern football players on scholarship filed a petition to unionize. The National Labor Relations Board used the Right to Control test to deem them employees who could vote to unionize. It is notable that this part of the NLRB’s ruling was never overturned. 3/

The letter is signed by a player from 11 of 12 Pac-12 schools (not Colorado).

— Player-approved health standards enforced by 3rd party

— 50% of revenue distributed evenly to athletes

— Medical insurance for 6 years after college

— End lavish facility costs and use endowment funds to protect all sports

— Prohibit/void COVID-19 agreements that waive liability

— 2% of revenue to support financial aid for low-income Black students & community initiatives
