My husband just got back from dropping our kids off at school.

He walked into the living room, burst into tears, & SCREAMED that one of the little girls in #Uvalde had to smear her dead classmate’s blood on her face to make the killer think she was dead too.
My husband doesn’t use Twitter, so he asked me to write this.

He asks all politicians to show up at work from now until legislation is passed with red paint smeared on their faces to represent empathy for the survivors & the consequences of unfettered gun access. #WearTheBlood
If you care about what happened in Uvalde, #WearIt to remember to act on gun safety laws. #WearIt so 10-year-olds don’t have to.

To be clear: We should be reopening our economy. But this is still a highly transmissible disease with deadly outcomes. We shouldn’t be reopening with an aura of invincibility that downplays the overall risk. People out there refusing to wear masks are reckless. #WearIt #txlege
And no, I don’t think we need mandatory masks w/ fines. We need straight talk about how deadly this is, a plan for widespread random testing of healthy/asymptomatic people w/ quarantines for positive or likely positives. And continued smart policies for social interactions.
Most will voluntarily wear masks & practice smart social hygiene when presented with the facts of COVID19. This whole argument about reopening the economy has caused too many intelligent people to downplay seriousness in hopes for a (needed) recalibration of mandatory lockdowns.
