I’ve raised the issue of those #Excluded from Government support in 6 oral questions, 7 speeches, dozens of written questions and 3 debates I’ve led. Yet progress has been minimal – hence the need for today’s debate.

It’s a waste of time for Ministers to keep up their strategy of parroting what HAS been done to support people. What matters is that gaps still exist.
The Treasury might tell us they’ve amended the RTI cut-off date – but this does nothing for those who missed out on furlough because of their roles as PAYE freelancers or annually paid limited company directors.

Apart from being a musician, I’ve been lucky enough to work a lot of different jobs in the live music industry. From production assistant to backline tech and from sound engineer to tour manager.
Let me tell you, it can be seriously hard work. I remember jobs where we started at 5am and finished at 6am the following day.
Here’s the thing though, the shows that come from that hard work bring real joy to millions of people AND bring serious money into the economy (£5.2 billion in 2019 in the UK).

1. Sadly nothing at all today from @rishisunak for over 3 million people and businesses excluded from support so far and no action to improve universal credit & sick pay to an amount people can actually survive on. @ForgottenPAYE @ExcludedUK @ForgottenLtd will be devastated today
2. Action to protect jobs subject the the existing furlough scheme late and better than nothing at all but certainly not the grand industrial 'marshall style' plan the country needs to create and preserve jobs to guarantee full employment and training.
3. There also seems to little detail yet on whether Gov will be incentivising employers or imposing conditions to keep staff on part time as part of this scheme rather than just keeping some workers full time and laying off the rest.

Me pasa mi amigo @SoyMmadrigal que en un grupo negacionista están promoviendo esta acción, así que no me quedó otra que analizarla😃. El resultado... no tiene nada que ver con estos elementos.
Abro mini hilo👇 Image
Image

Solidarity with live events workers day of action today! Livelihoods decimated by #coronavirus, many workers left with zero financial support. These skilled workers behind the scenes make live events happen. Support #WeMakeEvents #RedAlert #LetTheMusicPlay #LightItInRed
Demos today in London, Leeds, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, more! Venues will be lit up in red. The UK government has failed to support industries still unable to open by law, so the entire supply chain & its workers set to collapse. Culture is made by workers! #WeMakeEvents
Ever enjoyed a live event of any kind? Please support people who made it possible. Write to your MP, explain it’s unacceptable to let entire industries collapse - this is not just about the “crown jewel” venues. #WeMakeEvents #LightItInRed #LetTheMusicPlay writetothem.com
