The bill would allow retroactive applications for any disaster that occurred since Jan. 1, 2020.

Real talk: This morning I read that two people died in a car to the east of Salem, Ore. because of the fires. I didn't realize how secretly panicked I was until I heard that all my family who live south and east of Salem were safe.

My mom says we know a lot of people evacuating from Salem and Oregon City. My family in Independence and Corvalis aren't leaving yet, but another cousin even further south is 10 miles from the evacuation line. I can't even work out the patchwork of fires based on that.
