Weā€™re just 22 days away from Election Dayā€”in the middle of an ongoing election, when millions of people have already started votingā€”@SenateGOP are afraid of the truth: that they might not be able to get away with their Supreme Court nominee after the American people have spoken.
Senate Republicans know that the American people donā€™t want the Affordable Care Act to be overturned. They know that even the majority of Republicans support provisions of the ACA like protecting people with pre-existing conditions.
Senate Republicans know that the majority of Americans donā€™t want Roe v. Wade to be overturnedā€”that the majority of Americans donā€™t want to see abortion criminalized. But thatā€™s why weā€™re here today. Because Senate Republicans know the American people donā€™t want this.

President Trump explicitly promised that anyone he nominated to the Supreme Court would be a vote to overturn the Affordable Care Act.
Just one week after the election, the Supreme Court will hear a case in which the Trump Administration is trying to strike down this landmark law that has expanded health coverage and given pre-existing condition protections to tens of millions of Americans. #WhatsAtStake
Let me be clear: Seven days after Election Day, the Trump Administration will be telling the Supreme Court to tear down the Affordable Care Act and gut health care protections in the middle of this pandemic.

Today begins Senate confirmation hearings for Amy Coney Barrett, Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee.

Amy Coney Barrettā€™s record is filled with hostility to civil rights and red flags that should disqualify her.

And yet, here we are.

As @SenFeinstein notes, President Trump has promised to nominate a Supreme Court Justice who would dismantle the Affordable Care Act and health care rights for millions of people across the country.

This is exactly why he nominated Amy Coney Barrett.

We all remember when insurance companies could discriminate against people with asthma, diabetes or cancer. Now if Trump and Amy Coney Barrett have their way, millions could lose health care over a new pre-existing condition: COVID-19. #WhatsAtStake kff.org/policy-watch/iā€¦
One week after Election Day, the Supreme Court will hear the case that could deal the death blow to the ACA. We could soon be back to the days of pre-existing conditions, annual limits, and lifetime caps. 23 million Americans would lose their health care. vox.com/2020/3/2/21147ā€¦
We donā€™t yet know all of the long-term risks of COVID-19, but we can't ignore the evidence of heart and lung damage, strokes, and other chronic conditions. Without the ACA, COVID is another way that insurance companies could reject people or send their costs through the roof.

Since the Senate Judiciary Committee Record is ā€œopenā€ til Monday 9/10 at NOON it would behoove one of the @SenateDems to submit declarations offering proof that he lied along with a referral for a PERJURY investigation. #WhatsAtStake #StopKavanaugh slate.com/news-and-politā€¦
IF declarations allege that Kavanaigh lied under oath, Senators have an obligation to determine whether he perjured himself before they vote on his confirmation. Would Republicans investigate a Democrat? In a heartbeat! And Democrats would agree.
So @SenateDems should put the charges in the Judiciary Committee Record, even if the result is ā€œvoted out of committee with a request for perjury in the minority reportā€ and ask every Senator ā€œdid Kavanaugh lie and should you investigate that before voting on confirmation?ā€

Based on what I heard ā€” and didn't hear ā€” from Judge #Kavanaugh at his hearings, and having reviewed his writings and record as a judge, I believe any reasonable person would have cause to be concerned, even fearful, of his confirmation to the Supreme Court.

I will vote no.
My decision is based on:

1) his judicial track record
2) his equivocation on whether presidents should be investigated while in office, even though he investigated President Bill Clinton for Independent Counsel Ken Starr, and
3) what little we have seen of his White House record
Further, this whole process has been outrageous.

My request to meet with Judge #Kavanaugh before the hearings began was denied by the White House. I joined @JudiciaryDems in requesting a modest postponement so I had adequate time to review his full record ā€“ that was also denied.

My abortion (a short thread).

Friends, today's developments with regard to our health care made crystal clear #WhatsAtStake, the need to #StopKavanaugh, and the need to be a #HealthCareVoter this November.

In Texas today, a judge heard arguments on the lawsuit brought by several GOP State AGs and the Trump Administration to declare the #ACA, including #PreExistingConditions protections, unconstitutional. That judge seemed prepared to do just that. (2/)

modernhealthcare.com/article/201809ā€¦
If that one judge rules to strike down #PreExistingConditions protections, millions of Americans - including those of us with medically complex kids - would be at risk of losing health care.

Such a decision would be appealed, and could ultimately land at the Supreme Court. (3/)

In our meeting today, Judge Kavanaugh refused to answer even the most basic Qs ab his jurisprudence & judicial philosophy, especially re: womenā€™s reproductive freedom, health care protections for ppl w/ pre-ex conditions, voting rights & presidential powers.

Let me explain:
Judge Kavanaugh refused to say whether or not he agreed Roe v Wade & Planned Parenthood v Casey were correctly decided or assure me he believed these cases should be left alone

That should send shivers down the spine of any American who believes in reproductive freedom for women
Judge Kavanaugh had a special obligation to make his views on this topic clear, given the presidentā€™s litmus test that he would only appoint justices who would overturn Roe. On that obligation, Judge Kavanaugh failed spectacularly. #WhatsAtStake
