AN INTRODUCTION TO MILITARY DECEPTION (in WWII)
In light of the recent release of a certain recruiting video this seems like a convenient time to introduce Psychological Operations and Deception, which we will cover more in-depth later in the series.
The skills used in Psychological Operations are done so carefully and with very specific purpose. We will see a few creative examples of this in the #WhyWeFight series, although we will see more prominent examples as we progress beyond 1942.

Battle for Donbas

A thread.
As every day goes past that the Russian doesn’t happen, we have to ask ourselves:

Are the Russian forces not actually able to generate a manoeuvre force over and above what they need to hold the line in Donbas?

Not clear yet.
Things that could change this include the Russians taking Mariupol completely. This would free up some Russian forces for the wider Donbas. But they will be exhausted so not a huge amount of use.

There is a bit of a needle to be threaded on the Ukraine Conflict.

A thread.
I guess what I am talking about is how it ends, as we are approaching a bit of a stalemate of aims.
Broadly the Ukrainian position is that there needs to be a complete withdrawal of Russia forces from Ukrainian territory including Crimea and Donbas (which Russia have occupied since 2014).

These seems completely reasonable to me.
