(THREAD) Well guys, it's time for a recap thread.

I covered over 80 protest actions in 2018, and out of the 4,300 photos I took, here's some scenes from the most defining moments in DC activism this year.
(1) #NeverAgain was one of 2018's biggest political stories, without a doubt. It took only 38 days for a small group of Parkland students to rally millions and set off a surge of student-led engagement.
(2) 2018 was the year the "die-in" tactic went viral. Even smaller actions, like a few dozen students blockading McConnell's office, were seen by millions. Young people wanted a sign that politicians were getting their message loud and clear.

We were planning to shut down the Capitol Building but the authorities were so scared of this #WomensWave that they shut it down for us.

1000+ women, survivors, and allies have gathered in the Hart Senate Building.
Every hallway. Every floor.

#CancelKanavaugh #BelieveSurvivors
The entire building is echoing with chants of “BELIEVE SURVIVORS”
We believe ALL survivors.

We must demand @SenateDems, @SenSchumer use #NoQuorum to delay #SCOTUS confirm. hearings.
Why?
> @WhiteHouse is witholding 100K pages on Kavanaugh's time in Bush WH. What are they hiding?
> New guilty plea in #Mueller probe 8/31. We must block confirmation b4 probe is complete.
How to fight this...
1. Call AND write yr senators every day, whether Republicans or Dems. Ask others to do the same. Demand there be no confirmation hearings before we see where the criminal probe of @realdonaldtrump leads.

call 202-224-3121 or text resist to 50409 - it's easy
2. Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper voicing your opposition to Kavanaugh and explain your reasons why,
incl the new information about indictments in the ongoing criminal probe
AND
the failure to release pertinent Kavanaugh files

🚧 1.Let's take a little trip down memory lane @NancyPelosi @SenSchumer @SenGillibrand because it appears as though you may have a memory problem. In 2014 there were children in cages, 80% of which weren't even receiving adequate food and water #AbolishICE #WomenDisobey
2. 2014 Brian Williams reported on 52k children cramped into small facilities and while "taking children from Mothers" is never said listen closely when they say ADULTS are deported, kids stay? @NBCNews knows this and it was @RepMcCaul (R) that was worried #KeepFamiliesTogether
3. The @ACLU wrote to the Obama Admin in 2014 complaining children, including infants were starved, kept in "freezers" and sexually abused they included 116 confessions from children. #KeepFamiliesTogether acluaz.org/sites/default/…

#WomenDisobey: Arrests continuing here in the Hart building, it’s been 40 minutes and police have only led away about a quarter of the crowd.
#WomenDisobey: Dems are showing up to support protesters. I’ve spotted @SenGillibrand, @SenMarkey, @RepJayapal, and @SenDuckworth - with her baby.
#WomenDisobey: @RepJayapal grabbed a foil blanket and joined the sit-in. Looks like she was just arrested.

Let’s be clear about what this Executive Order does: Instead of imprisoning children in separate internment camps away from their parents, this administration will now imprison children in the same internment camps as their parents.
The Executive Order @realDonaldTrump just signed does nothing to end the “zero-tolerance policy” that automatically criminalizes any and all immigrants who cross the border without legal papers, including those seeking asylum.

It does nothing to end the imprisonment of children.
Children locked in “tender age” prison camps will still be locked in camps. Family detention camps.
