Not all women are white women.
I founded @techseowomen 2.5 years ago and one thing I've struggled with over time is ensuring it doesn't run into a community primarily for white women.
Here are some things I do to ensure that doesn't happen 🧵
1) I never run an event or an event cohort that only features white women. In fact, the upcoming #WTSFest features 50% women of colour.

2) I never share a #WTSNewsletter edition that only features white women's content. I put the effort to go through feeds by women of colour and collate their brilliant pieces.

I usually share these on Mondays but I got so inspired reading this week's @techseowomen #WTSInterview that I had to share it earlier. @aleyda is someone who I have so much respect for and someone who has helped me a lot. A thread with my favourite bits.

"The best professional advice I can give is: Don't let other people tell you what you're capable of and don't wait for others to give you opportunities, create your own." @aleyda
"If you ask me what I think has been the key to my professional evolution, it's that I've never accepted challenges as "blockers" of my evolution. Instead, I see them as "opportunities" to grow and this is what drives my motivation to achieve what I care about." @aleyda
