Today’s Scarlet Witch included a story that changed the game when it comes to Storm and her relationship to Magic & Wanda Maximoff! This thread shows why I think Ororo’s long suspected, now officially displayed, magical potential is directly tied to her Divinity ⚡️🔮#Xspoilers ImageImage
It’s surreal that Storm, after being recently confirmed as a Wakandan Goddess AND an Omega Mutant AND The Voice of Sol… is also now a confirmed Sorceress! Not ONLY that but a sorceress from a direct line to the FIRST human being to ever be Sorcerer Supreme, Ayesha of Balobedu. ImageImageImageImage
I believe Scarlet Witch issue #2’s display of Ororo calling on her ancestral magical ties has the same source of her divinity as The Hadari Yao for a few reasons: 1) Ororo is a descendant of Ashake, an Egyptian Priestess. She was a Witch-Priestess of the Elder Goddess Oshtur. ImageImage

This moment is so impactful and on track for Jean because of her decades long history of looking out for and trying to save Madelyne. #XSpoilers

1/6 Image
After being deceived by Scott, Hank, Bobby, and Warren for months following her return from stasis, and finding out Scott had a wife and child who he’d abandoned for her, Jean admonished him and urged him to go back to them. #XSpoilers

Later, she sacrificed her soul to Mephisto to save Madelyne and Nate, to relieve Scott of his guilt and so that he could be with his family. Mephisto referred to Jean’s soul as “rare and wondrous” and released her. #XSpoilers

The Dark Phoenix Saga has been framed as a cautionary tale centered on how, as Lord Acton once wrote, "absolute power corrupts absolutely." However, it is a tragedy that illustrates the cumulative effects of grief, abuse, trauma, dissociation, and addiction. 1/36 #XSpoilers Image
Technically, the "saga" begins after the X-Men battle Magneto, and Jean and Beast believe the rest of their teammates to be dead. Unbeknownst to them, however, the others have been transported to the Savage Land and believe Jean and Beast to be dead. 2/36 ImageImageImage
Jean is grief-stricken by the seeming death of her teammates—her chosen family— which leaves her feeling alone and displaced. Her guilt over not being able to save them causes a surge in her power and she unintentionally reads Xavier's mind. 3/36 ImageImageImageImage

The tournament will grow to 48 teams and a new Round of 32 in four years time, and nothing’s set to change there.

Infantino, however, says that the planned implementation of 16 groups of three could switch to 12 groups of four. #XboxGamePass #XRP #XSpoilers
thehorsemanfilm.com/mengapa-kemena… The tournament currently has eight groups of four, neatly sending two teams each to the Round of 16. The 48-team tournament would still do that, taking plenty of drama from the group stage.

It would also challenge the group stage’s final day, as teams
launchora.com/story/keuntung… But that certainly feels preferable to each team getting two games each and one team in each group likely having the disadvantage of watching the other two teams potentially decide its fate.

That said, a 2-0 team would know it has more rest time

10 reasons to read the book of the week, Marauders #7 by @thesteveorlando and @eloelo... (light #XSPOILERS) 🧵 Image
1) A preacher. An evil mutant preacher in a freakum coat walking like Bella Hadid down in a bunker about to start mess. Steve Orlando I have your tea 😂#xspoilers ImageImage
2) Originally I was gonna say the gloss on Fang's new costume (leaning into the camp and instantly taking it into the top 3 wolverine costumes overall) but also come for the Calvin and Hobbes background expressions. #xspoilers ImageImage

#xspoilers that's pretty clever. We always wondered whether that Isca's power changed her mind, which makes it her Achilles. This is better than the flat "I bet you can't lose" gambit, exploiting her forced transience You can tell he's been wanting to spit hot fire for a minute. Image
#xspoilers there's something about this that reminds me of Thor. Her "winning" is his "worthiness" a clause that makes them powerful only as long as they hold a particular concept of it. He was made to doubt Image
#xspoilers winning fuelled her loss; the loss of her childhood, companionship, participation, trust and agency. No love can be real, no friendship, because how could they ever refuse you? She lost the ability to feel joy in winning even, 10,000 years. A nice twist, but a sad end. Image

Ahead of Knights of X starting, I’ve re-read Excalibur from start to finish to refresh myself on all things Otherworld. I’ve created a primer for new or ongoing readers in the form of the 13 most vital plot points from issues 1-26. Roll on next Wednesday! #xspoilers 🧵 (1/14)
Excalibur begins with Morgan le Fay discovering the existence of Krakoa through a scrying pool in Otherworld. Determined to establish a mutant presence there through mutant ‘Superior’ magic, Apocalypse enlists the aid of Betsy Braddock who founds Excalibur. (2/14)
When the incumbent CB Brian Braddock falls victim to Morgan’s mind control, he relinquishes the amulet to Betsy making her de facto protector of the realm. After Betsy defeats him in battle, Brian’s choice of the Sword of Might renders him unworthy & the mantle is passed. (3/14)

People have asked for my opinion on the altered scene between Moira and Irene/Raven in Inferno #1 versus how it’s depicted in HoXPoX. I’ve been contemplating (this one issue is so stuffed with content) and I think there are 3 possible explanations. Thread to follow. #xspoilers
Option One: The version in HoX is Moira’s recollection, and the version in Inferno is Raven or Irene’s recollection. We therefore see memory is fallible. My issue there is that Irene and Raven shouldn’t be able to remember the scene at all, even with Irene’s power. #xspoilers
Option Two: The version in HoX is Moira’s recollection, and the version in Inferno is what actually happened. This is an appealing reading to me, because I like the idea that Moira’s memory isn’t perfect. HOWEVER… we’ve been told that it is. #xspoilers

In our last thread before we read the Dark Phoenix Saga, we're flipping through UXM #126-128 where our team faces off against Proteus.

I mentioned back during #123 that with the introduction of Arcade, the book somehow feels darker & the Proteus Saga is certainly no exception. ImageImageImage
Logan calls Scott out for leaving for Muir without Hank- to which he replies that there "wasn't time", which is simply not the case. His identity as cautious and prepared is thrown away as soon as he learns Jean is alive.

I wonder what consequences that will have for our team. Image
It's an interesting departure from the man we've seen drilling his team in the Danger Room over the several issues. Even though he instructs "just like they practiced"- there's no way the team could prepare for what's ahead.

Also, shout out Storm's upper body strength. Damn. Image

Today we're flipping through the pages of X-Men Annual #3 & UXM #125. Our first annual of CC's run happens just before #125, itself something of a standalone ahead of two major X-stories.

CW: sexual assault- for the next several issues, I'll be discussing Jean & Mastermind ImageImage
Over the next thirteen issues, we'll be faced with a lot of violence committed against women- including Moira and Jean.

In light of that, if you need to mute this account until next Sunday when I move on from the Dark Phoenix Saga, please do so and come back when you feel safe.
Keeping this in mind, you can safely read through the first half of the thread until a splash panel of Jean lets you know we're into the heavier parts of the thread.

If anyone has any thoughts or insight into the best way to handle these warnings, please reach out.

Apocalypse’s First Horsemen are his original, ancient Egyptian companions—but which Horsemen is which?

Death, Famine, War and Pestilence.

Which is the Pharaonic death-masked, fire-faced, Hathor-crowned and Anubis-faced Mutant, respectively?
#XSpoilers #HoXPoX #MarvelComics1000
Death seems the best title for 3 of the 4, with one’s death-mask/sarcophagus Pharaonic look, one with the Hathor-crowned visage (Hathor a Goddess who helped souls into the afterlife) and one with an Anubis-face (a God of death with dominion over Necropolis).
#XSpoilers #HoXPoX
The title of Pestilence is a later interpretation of the Biblical Horseman of Conquest.

Pestilence (sometimes Plague) described as showy and barbarous, was originally Conquest or Victory, and related to prophecy about conquering empires preceding the Rapture.
