I have been saying this to journalists who assign to lobbying groups such as @pearlsNY and @KnowUs_ the same credibility as they give #YeshivaGate whistleblowers:
I will try to unpack this for you all:

@pearlsNY was formed after a legal complaint was filed by whistleblowers who allege educational neglect at certain yeshivas. A few years ago @MollyBoigon found that leadership of @AgudahNews actually helps run it 2/X forward.com/news/436106/se…
It’s important to understand that at it’s core, what the whistleblowing does is threaten a hugely profitable enterprise which was hitherto allowed to operate almost totally unregulated — on the public’s dime.

@pearlsNY themselves acknowledge their raison d’être is financial 3/X Image

A #Thread on @JGreenblattADL's statement on the NY Times recent coverage of Hasidic Yeshivas, essentially accusing the Times of causing anti-Semitic attacks.
Greenblatt made the comment in response to a question from a reporter at an unrelated press conference.

Since then, the @ADL_NYNJ branch has officially tweeted out that statement verbatim on ADL letterhead.

Greenblatt made a rookie mistake responding to a reporter’s question on a whim, rather than issuing a carefully through-out statement, and now it's official ADL policy.

In fact, it appeared from his body language and his stammering that he hadn’t actually read the @nytimes piece (below).

Nor did he specify what the Times did wrong and how other reporters might go about reporting on this issue without being accused of antisemitism.

POWERFUL NY TIMES EDITORIAL!!!

#YeshivaGate

"It is an essential obligation of state government and foundational to life and liberty: New York requires children to go to school and to receive instruction in English and math and other basic skills that are necessary for participation in our democratic society."

#YeshivaGate
"A @nytimes investigation into the state’s Hasidic schools laid bare the extent of the crisis. About 50,000 boys are attending these... schools, operated by Hasidic communities in NYC... where there is hardly any instruction in English & math, & even less in science & civics."

Must read op-ed from @beawebwriter, a mother of 10 children whose children have attended and still attend Hasidic Yeshivas, on the recent @nytimes Yeshiva investigation.

Beatrice has been a vocal advocate for improving secular education in Yeshivas for years. In 2019, she filed a complaint and then a lawsuit to compel the city to ensure that her son's Yeshiva complies with the law:

She's written prolifically about the lack of choice for Hasidic parents, especially for those in custody battles, to switch their sons to compliant schools:

Starting a thread on comments and reactions in the Hasidic media to the @nytimes piece by @elizashapiro and @brianmrosenthal.
"The two main writers were unfortunately of Jewish descent, a Schapiro - their education writer who for years hasn't been hiding her venom against yeshivas - and a Rosenthal."

--Satmar newspaper "Der Yid"
Der Yid is very excited that the @nytimes article set Satmar as the leader that sets the tone for other schools. They see it as confirming their superiority over other Hasidic groups.

Kind of weird that non-Chasidish Orthodox Jews are defending Chasidish yeshivos’s right to raise ignoramuses, instead of blaming chassidim for violating the law so flagrantly that it attracts unwanted government attention.
With all the energy expended raging about how great yeshivos are and how bad the state is, every Jewish child could’ve been taught multiplication instead.
Also the hashtag #yeshivagate annoys me because I expect it to be about Gateshead Yeshiva whenever I see it

I wrote a few tweets detailing the history of the #YeshivaGate saga. I’ll use this thread to post the sources for all my claims.

— the common claim is that “@yaffedorg targets all schools” this is a lie. ONLY specific & egregious schools were included.

This article by @SusanBEdelman in the @nypost had smoking gun evidence of this exact scheme I outlined. Have a look:

They like to say one thing in public but another behind closed doors.

Then gaslight the few who do say something. See this article by @MollyBoigon

This weekend, the @nypost obtained internal emails that showed @NYCMayor was more personally involved in delaying the yeshiva probe than previously thought. In case you're just catching up on #yeshivagate, it's been a heck of a ride. (THREAD)

@jdforward

forward.com/news/446121/em…
The emails build on an investigation last winter that found that there had been "political horse-trading"-- the mayor/staffers traded a delayed report on the status of secular subject instruction at yeshivas for political gains

forward.com/fast-forward/4…
The new emails showed a staffer saying that when the city did issue a report, “it will be gentle and will cite progress (assuming progress continues). We have not said that we won’t make findings, but we have gently hinted at that.”
