"HISTORY of the term "No Man's Land" tag on LAGOS".
SOURCE: Separatist Agitations in Nigeria since 1914,pg 569
A THREAD from the excerpt below 👇

At the same I953 conference, Nigerian delegates again became painfully aware of the
serious political differences which tended to mar the evolution of harmony between various sections. The controversy over Lagos, Nigeria's capital and leading commercial centre, caused more bitterness in I953 than it had in 1950. During the 1950 and 1953 conferences which
discussed this issue, delegates from the Eastern Region made it clear that they regarded Lagos as a 'no-man's land'.
The Western delegates, however, regarded Lagos as a Yorùbá town which they wanted to administer on their own terms. During the 1950 General Conference, the

On your journey to Oyo, right below Fiditi, there is a little town named “Ilu Aje.” Which basically translates to “Witch Town.” Ilu Aje is a rather significant rural hamlet with huge fields located between the cities of Ilora and Jobele in Oyo State’s Afijio
Local Government Area. “Ilu Aje” literally means “a town of fortune in sales or business transactions.”

However, history bestowed upon it the strange homophonic appellation of “Ilu Aje” (Town of Witches) as a result of the intervention of Akinyolu, a herbalist

YORÙBÁ'S ETIQUETTES AND VALUES

"In Yoruba land, money has never been foremost in Yorùbá value system. In our value system, money is number six..
What are the first five ?

The first is làákà’yè, which is the application of ogbón, ìmò òye (knowledge, wisdom, understanding).
The second is valour. Akin or Akínkanjú. That is why Balóguns are second-in-command to the leaders in Yorùbá land. Balóguns are people that can lead them to war. Yorùbá have no respect for cowards.
The third is integrity. (Ìwà omolúàbí ). Someone with integrity is a man of his words. If you have all the wealth in the world but lack integrity, it means nothing. Integrity is combined with iwa – character, which we regard as omolúàbí.

Orompoto was, according to oral traditions, the first and only female Alaafin of Oyo. She was the sister of her predecessor, Eguguojo. She assumed the throne in 1554 because there was no male successor from her elder brother at the time.

Legend has it that she cut off her breasts (mastectomy) and put on men's clothing to look like a man and for the Oyo Mesi to accept her as Alaafin.

In 1557, Alaafin Orompoto strengthened Oyo's military might. She imported horses from as far as Timbuktu in Mali and had over...
...1000 horsemen. She did tie leaves on the horses' tails so that when they went a fighting, the leaves swept the ground after them to cover trails of the horses' prints.
