The figure is the highest of any region in the UK

the UK as a whole is the single largest beneficiary of the programme, ahead of Germany, Spain, Italy and France.

The UK will see a 46% increase in funding in the next 4 years, up to ÂŁ8.5bn - 20% of all the grants signed off
"News of the increased Yorkshire funding has been welcomed by the head of Science City York, Heather Niven, who said it was “fantastic news” for both universities and business communities in the region. "

The Tripe Marketing Board has principles. Read this thread to find out what they are. Image

We believe that the precious gift of laughter can bring people together. Take a look at the motley crew who make up our board members, as an example. They're all heights, ages, political persuasions and and beliefs. One or two of them even like tripe.

Most of them are on Twitter, so if you see them do give them a wave. It's an unpaid role - that's why we can attract the brightest and the best. Many have been members of the Board for over a decade and with their help the TMB has grown into a powerful force for good.

Dirty Little Secret (Jonathan Peace)

Only The Dead Stay Silent

#DirtyLittleSecret @JPwritescrime is the first novel in what is going to be an excellent police thriller series featuring WDC Louise Miller.
WDC Louise Miller has returned to her home town #Ossett #WestYorkshire having served on the police force in Manchester for the past four years. The day before she officially starts her new job, she finds the body of a young girl in a 'phone box.
The discovery is shocking, especially in a small parochial town, where the most challenging/exciting events are the annual flower shows/ fayres/Sunday football matches. WDC Miller also has to fit in to a new police unit who is unprepared/unwilling to welcome female detectives

Archbishop Arthur Roche, in an interview with @The_Tablet, says the Vatican's divine worship office is preparing a document on liturgical formation in seminaries.

He says the reasoning behind Vatican II's reforms needs to be better understood.

thetablet.co.uk/features/2/215…
Roche says standing against the Pope is an "astonishing act", "full of hubris"

The belief “that things will change under a new pontificate is not only misplaced but reveals an enormous ignorance about the mandate given to the entire Church by the Second Vatican Council.” /2
Bishops, he says, have expressed “relief” at the restrictions Pope Francis issued on the pre-Vatican II liturgy.

Archbishop Roche says the Old Rite is allowed as a “pastoral concession.”

And he gives the theological reasons why. /3

Wednesday's #Covid19 megathread makes an early start as there's so much news to bring you!

#Omicron takes centre stage in Europe with a raft of records (recap coming up), but #UK ministers are increasingly confident the NHS won't be swamped despite England's lack of restrictions
It turned out to be a terrible Tuesday, not just in #UK, which was just one of TEN European countries to hit all time high daily #Covid19 infection numbers.

#Cyprus #France #Greece #Iceland #Italy #Malta #Montenegro #Portugal and #Spain the others to set new records.
Concern in #Norway. The #Omicron wave looked to be beyond the peak; is it making a comeback or is it still delayed Christmas cases?
4,702 new #Covid19 infections, fewer than 100 down on last Weds.

Better health data. 315 in hospital, down 13 since y'day, although 120 are in ICU

Monday's #Covid19 thread starts here. Still holidays around the world for many, including #UK. But here all eyes on Boris Johnson - will he, or won't he make more restrictions or even lockdown? We should know today.

I've got more hospital data in the thread, updated real time..
So let me start with #UK. I've managed to get new health data, which will be critical to the decision on new restrictions in #England

As of y'day there were 7,536 #Covid19 patients in English hospitals; up 17.1% in a week.

But 2,425 of those are in London and that's up 45.5%
Strangely, South-East & South-West areas of #England have fewer #Covid19 patients in hospital.

Occupied hospital beds by region (weekly change):

#London 2,425 +46%
#Midlands 1,345 +17%
#East 681 +16%
#NorthWest 945 +8%
#Yorkshire/NE 847 +3%
#SouthEast 803 -2%
#SouthWest 490 -5%

The #UKGovernment Torture Report

This is a very short overview of what the #UKAuthorities have done in the case.

In 2005, I set up a business selling CDs, namely mixtape CDs after graduating from Uni.

In 2006, my home was raided & my business was stopped. They said the CDs I was selling were in breach of copyright.
It was a complete shock as the exact same CDs I was selling were prevalent on most high streets and supermarkets. They were selling in their thousands in places such as #Tesco & #HMV. And #Woolworths were the actual UK Distributor of these CDs.

So pleased for my new #NorthEast near neighbour @DehennaDavison!
A great maiden speech today. Continuing the positive, aspirational, new @Conservatives approach we saw across the #RedWall in #GE2019 - looking forward to hearing the 6 more new north east #MPs maiden speeches ImageImageImageImage
Right to thank the many many people came to help @DehennaDavison - from the amazing @carriesymonds + #Dilyn the dog to former candidate @C_F_Adams to a host of #Yorkshire helpers and the @ToryReformGroup dream team / @NLandTories who both battled the downpours in #Tudhoe Image
Knew @DehennaDavison was going to win when #Scargill Drive in #Tudhoe (former colliery community) was so positive and pro @Conservatives đź‘Ť Image
