@claudiorlandi @rbkhmrcr @AarhusUni @uclisec Abstract:
* QuisQuis provides both a relatively small state footprint with comparison to ever growing chains Zcash & Monero (similar to Bitcoin UTXO set)
* QuisQuis provides plausible deniability - a user can deny he's part of a tx (in contrast to Zcash, similar to Monero)
@claudiorlandi @rbkhmrcr @AarhusUni @uclisec Proofs are reasonably computationally light (much lighter than Zcash's zk-SNARKs), and small in size (~13kb, still larger than Monero's post-bulletproofs which are 3.7kb).
@claudiorlandi @rbkhmrcr @AarhusUni @uclisec Me:
Scalability (smaller state footprint): better than #Zcash & #Monero, definitely not better than #MimbleWimble.
Privacy: same as Monero & MW, worse than Zcash in theory, better than Zcash in practice (small usage of shielded txs due to overhead).

1\ In 6 hours, #Bulletproofs become mandatory on the #Monero mainnet.

I don't remember being this excited about a hard fork in a long time. The article below gives you the full picture as to why, but I will try to summarize it in this thread.

2\ Disclaimer before I begin: A couple of weeks ago, I shared some of the findings of our report on #Zcash and many in the community (incl. @fluffypony) perceived it as an attack on @monero.

- It wasn't. In fact, we see vibrant experimentation and development in Monero.
3\ #Bulletproofs is one the most important technologies deployed on a mainnet this year. It can be applied to many proof systems to increase privacy and efficiency, as it reduces transaction sizes (& fees) by as much as 80%.

To fully appreciate this, let's clarify a few things:

1/ @alexhevans recently dug into the numbers behind forks of #Bitcoin, #Ethereum, #Monero & #Zcash.

Main conclusion: Value can’t be forked away as easily as people like to think. placeholder.vc/blog/2018/9/17…
2/ Secondary conclusion: Despite parent #cryptonetworks retaining users, devs & value, the child forks trade at (puzzling) relative valuation premiums.
3/ To follow are graphs and conclusions from @alexhevans that are relevant to specific actors or ratios (if you're not a fan of long form writing 😉)

1/ There are two kinds of very intelligent people I see in #crypto privacy. One group naturally gets privacy and the other deeply struggles with it. Surprisingly, much of it boils down to personality.
2/ The intelligent people who don't get privacy are generally optimistic about human nature. They tend to view people as basically good and they have a tendency to see the best in others. They are often overly honest, trusting, and kind.
3/ Many of them you could probably look at and correctly guess that they don't jay walk even if the streets are empty.

To them, privacy is largely about keeping your personal life and business dealings confidential from others. LE and govt aren't considered bad actors.
