Ci riuscii.
Ieri invece ci è salito, senza avvisarmi.
Adesso la possibilità che muoia mi distrugge.

#Libya #Tripoli Around 200 people from #Somalia #Sudan #Egypt are now on board the Ras Jadir vessel, including women & children. 4 boats were intercepted during last night by the Libyan coast guard & since this morning 6AM they are waiting disembarkation.
#Libya 200 people were forcibly returned to #Tripoli this morning & are now in #Zintan, Dhar el Jebel detention centre, Nafusa Mountains.

A Survivor mentioned 5 people drowned during the sea interception.

The center is overcrowded, with people crammed. No UN visit for ages.
#Libya In #Zintan detention center there are already ~400 from #Eritrea #Somalia registered with @UNHCRLibya, that have been left stranded for months & in some cases years, with no assistance.

+ 200 people are being forcibly returned to the same cycle of violence & detention. Picture taken in Zintan Det...

1) #Turkey and the USA seem to be getting closer over #Libya. Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin has been on local channel NTV tonight, says 'We can't accept the support Russia gives to Haftar, we don’t believe this will support the political process in Libya..... Image
2) '...the US side on the other hand sees that Turkey's involvement in the Libya crisis brought a balance in the situation.' The US ambassador to Libya has also been on the phone to the leader of the UN-backed govt in Libya's capital, Tripoli.

3) Amb pointedly mentions Russia but no one else by name when he talks of '..the urgent need to end the destabilizing flow of Russian and other foreign military equipment and mercenaries into Libya..' Trump and Erdoğan also talked Libya on phone today.

#Libya 🇱🇾: after weeks of heavy fighting #GNA forces have captured Watiyah airbase.

This is the biggest victory for the GNA ever since the #Tripoli offensive started a year ago, with the capture of the airbase they have cleared the entire western flank of #LNA forces
#Libya 🇱🇾: spoils captured at Watiyah airbase include a Russian-made Pantsir anti-air system.

Crystal clear indication of Russian involvement on the #LNA side Image
The biggest winner of today is arguably Turkey who will now (through it's GNA allies) be able to set up a permanent base in Watiyah, solidifying its presence in the Maghreb region

A lot of the questions that came up during @LibyaDesk consultations in #Tunis had to do with the return of former #Gaddafi officials and supporters to the scene.
It came as no surprise that a lot of the available information was false.
This thread will attempt to clarify things.
Since 2011, tribes and figures that supported the former strongman were sidelined and persecuted, forcing many to flee #Libya.
The first return of ‘green’ Libyans (Gaddafi supporters) was in 2014 #Benghazi when #Haftar called on them to assist in the war against #terrorism.
This created a safe zone in east of #Libya which resulted in many families in exile that could no longer afford living in #Egypt or #Tunisia to move to towns in the east.
Politically, the first return of former #Gaddafi officials to political life was due to #Sarraj..

#Libya #Alzintan In Daher Al Jabal detention center 180km from #Tripoli ~600 refugees & migrants from #Eritrea #Somalia #Ethiopia are held arbitrarily in inhuman conditions, including women & children. Many deaths are registered + lack of medical care & basic human needs. ImageImageImageImage
#Libya #Alzintan Refugees received little food and a cup of water yesterday evening. Many have been living in these conditions for more than a year now. Horrific reality. EU leaders are complicit in this tragedy unfolding before their eyes. ImageImage
May 2019. #Refugees & migrants arbitrarily held in Daher Al Jabal detention center in Al-zintan, 180km from #Tripoli, are denied humanitarian assistance. The inhuman conditions are well known by @UNHCRLibya but so far nothing concretely has been done to improve their lives. Image

It seems an independent auditor came to Abu Salim today looking into UN activities. The guards told detainees in advance not to mention that they haven't been fed for months (some of their families are sending them money to buy food with instead, which guards take a cut from). ImageImageImageImage
Messages today from Qasr bin Ghashir dc, southern Tripoli, today, where they’re asking for evacuation & any organisation that can help them. ImageImage
Sorry for my confusion, the teenager above was being held in Qasr bin Ghashir, but has now been moved to the UNHCR facility in Tripoli for evacuation. He's asking for help for those he left behind. Image
