శాసనాలలో / కావ్యాలలో మొదట సంవత్సరం / కాలం సూచించేవారు కాదు. ఆ తరువాత పలానా రాజు పట్టాభిషిక్తుడై పలనా సంవత్సరాలు అయిన తరువాత అని వాడేవారు. ఆ తరువాత ‘శక’ సంవత్సరాలు మొదలయ్యాయి.
శాసనాలలో / కావ్యాలలో మొదట సంవత్సరం / కాలం సూచించేవారు కాదు. ఆ తరువాత పలానా రాజు పట్టాభిషిక్తుడై పలనా సంవత్సరాలు అయిన తరువాత అని వాడేవారు. ఆ తరువాత ‘శక’ సంవత్సరాలు మొదలయ్యాయి.
శాసనాలలో శాలివాహక శకంతో పాటు 1126, 1232 అంటూ అంకెలు పేర్కొని ఆయా కాలాన్ని సూచించేవారు.
అయితే కొందరు కవులు, శాసన కర్తలు తమ కావ్యాలలో, శాసనాలలో కాలాన్ని నేరుగా అంకెలలో సూచించకుండా పైన చెప్పిన విధంగా Chronograms వాడి వాక్యాలలో తెలియజేసేవారు.
