Good to have the perspectives of refugees themselves represented at #IASFM17 but it’s the tail end of Day 3. These voices should be front and centre. We have build our careers on backs of forced migrants, we absolutely have to start with refugees and include them in every aspect
And so important to have direct/literal interpretation rather than the interpreter adding their own comments or thoughts about the speakers situation and experiences.
Feeling part of something is not just about formal asylum process but about having opportunities to contribute, build, fill gaps, advocate with and behalf of others. Good to hear that @InterVol provides opps for people to be involved in their own protection strategies #IASFM17

Linking back to last @migration_team session, there’s scope for creative processes that don’t produce ‘evidence’. People should not be reduced to their ‘refugeeness’, sometimes (often) they just want to do ‘normal stuff’ #IASFM17
And be allowed to engage on equal terms with the people they are working, which includes criticism! #IASFM17
“I am a refugee and I am proud of myself”. This is my favourite plenary session of #IASFM17 by a country mile - at least in terms of the panellists. Thanks Lisa Schuster for calling out @Refugees for ‘refugee-splaining’
