I thought I'd have a look at the FB targeted ads that have recently been published. We know that VL told porkies, but I wanted to see how much of their campaign was untruthful.
It seems that it was pretty much all of it. #VoteLeaveLied
Here's a sample of the worst offenders 1/17
We know that they targeted groups with their own special trigger messages & we know that they lied about the EU budget contribution (gross of £225m/wk, net £203m/wk), but £350m wasn't just on the bus ... it was pretty much everywhere in their ads 2/17
It started in their data capture con they used to get your information (Trump had Kogan & CA, VL used their £50m competition)
£50m/day = £350m/wk 3/17
Once they'd sorted out their target audiences, they started the targeted lying.
Concerned about industry of manufacturing? Have one of these
(are we spending that fake £350m/wk on the NHS, or industry?) 4/17
Are you concerned about animal welfare?
Have one of these 5/17
You might not have seen the animal welfare ads before, so you might not know why I say it's a lie. Here are a couple of links for you:
uk.whales.org/blog/2016/05/w…
bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politi… 6/17
Concerned about immigration? Well, have I got some lies for YOU!!
(in case you've not already realised this - BREAKING NEWS: Turkey is not joining the EU anytime soon) 7/17
And it looks like Albania & Macedonia aren't getting on as well as they'd hoped with their accession dw.com/en/opinion-mac… 8/17
What about the deal with Turkey & their visas?
Well that was only Schengen, & that's not going too well, so this was a lie too 9/17
My mistake. If you've got kids, you were probably told we'd be spending that fake £350m/wk on schools
Btw - EU migrants to the UK pay more in than they cost (including their share of "fixed" costs, like defence - how their contributions are spent is up to govt) 10/17
No - as you were. We're going to spend it on the NHS.
BTW - 10% of doctors in the NHS are EU27 citizens, compared to 5% of the popn. The doctor you see is more likely to be an EU citizen than the patient sitting next to you. 11/17
Yes - we're definitely going to spend that fake £350m/wk on the NHS. It was Reason #46 for leaving 12/17
And, of course, if we left the EU, we wouldn't be forced to help bail out Greece, would we?
What? You mean we didn't help Greece, & were under no obligation to?
bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politi…
Seems that VL were lying again 13/17
Sovereignty though! There were a number of ads to convince people that the EU was both undemocratic & corrupt. You can research that yourself, but it's not true 14/17
If you're a Corbynista, here's one for you. Unlike the rest of these I've highlighted, it's not a direct lie, just very misleading.
Yes Corbyn is Eurosceptic (some would say he's a closet Leaver), but the quote was from 1993 15/17
Finally, it's hardly surprising that Yorkshire voted Leave, because they were targeted with these ads
BTW - VL didn't tell you that the EU solidarity fund paid for emergency relief, nor that other EU funds were being spent on flood defense, did they? 16/17
So there you have it. The fake £350m/wk is going to be simultaneously spent on industry, schools, hospitals, NHS staff, & flood defences (depending on who you are).
Yes, I know it's not £350m/wk, but you must have realised by now - #VoteLeaveLied
