There are several things that she just doesn't understand
about her man
For starters he does not take the first step on intimacy
At first it was curiously refreshing to have a guy who is not always trying to decode the password into her pants
But she grew weary of it

A woman wants to be chased,
It makes her feel desirable, attractive, wanted
He just wouldn't do it
It almost feels as if intimacy scares him
She tried very hard to turn his thinking around
'Be more romantic, let your hands roam free sometimes, don't be so proper'
Nothing worked

She told her boss and confidant
This and this are the issues I am facing in my relationship
Her boss listened, even sympathized
'Will you please talk to him? I am tired of being the pursuer here'

She is a well traveled, exposed and educated woman

She has been totally dependable, generous and helpful
Her man is just perfect for her but for this issue

He came around, he boss spoke with him
It went very well
That evening, after picking her from work he 'nutmegged' her with a deep, long kiss
It felt like a dragon was unleashed within him
A week later, he got a juicy job offer in another state
It was an answered prayer

One of the advantages of his nature is rest of mind for her
He doesn't have friends, he doesn't club, he prefers to read and watch documentaries
Ladies are rarely where he is
He is an interesting person but only with those he is familiar with
She sleeps soundly

His call wakes her up every morning, he is the last voice she hears before sleep
They started talking of marriage
She picked a date for the introduction
His birthday came
She jumped on a plane
Got to the state where he works
Took a taxi straight to his office
He wasn't there

Right on the wall, next to Buhari's picture she saw the picture of her boss
She asked the receptionist
Is Ms. So and So the MD here
The receptionist said yes
Alarm bells rang in her head immediately
Something beyond her understanding was obviously going on
Something felt wrong

She left the reception
Went to an eatery close by to take a drink
Surely there is an explanation for the secrecy
Perhaps her boss doesn't want people to know she has her own company in another state
Perhaps her man had been sworn to silence
Then she saw them, The two of them

The alighted from a taxi right in front of his office
He was walking away
Her boss pulled him back
Motioned for him to plant a kiss right on her lips
He did so, very generously

She screamed
Her hands trembled
She sat at the eatery for a long time
What should she to do?

She sent him a text
"I wish you best of luck with her"
He didn't call back
Her boss resigned via email
Six months later, her boss married him
Her colleagues were there
It was as she scrolled through the pictures on the social media
That it dawned on her
She was Delilah
She cried!

A month later

Her boss mails her:

Hi, thank you for giving us your blessing.

I found him exactly as you described. Shy and respectful of boundaries.

I know that bothered you but it was exactly what I had been praying for.

A man who let's me be me.
