How the 1974 in-camera proceedings in the parliament of #Pakistan were scripted.

Yahya Bakhtiar, the Attorney General (YB) who was cross-examining the Khalifatul Masih III of #Ahmadiyya Muslims had little interest in establishing the truth. Here is one example..

One of the main items on YB's agenda was to show that #Ahamdis had 'separatist tendencies'.

'They call everyone else Kafir'.. 'They don't pray behind other sects' etc etc.

YB was handed a reference by the questioning committee which was clearly tempered with by the clerics.

The text quoted by YB is from an address by the 2nd Caliph of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community from 1949.

YB is not aware of the context.
YB is asking the question with the intent to prejudice the house against the community.
The text has been manipulated to appear anti-Islam

As was his practice during the whole proceedings, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih III did not confirm or deny the veracity of the quote. He asked his team to make a note of it to be answered later.

It is a common practice of anti-Ahmadis to falsly attribute quotes or manipulate the text

The answer was given on the next day (20 July 74).

The quote was read in full.

The context: Khalifatul Masih II was discussing the psychology of anti-Islam propagandists (Christian missionaries, apologists, orientalists etc) who target the person of Holy Prophet of Islam.

And he is saying that Islam, by nature has the property of annihilating other religious ideologies if they try to compete with it on an intellectual level. Hence why they target the Holy founder of Islam.

What did YB do?

Did he accept that he may have been mistaken?

No.

Instead, YB carried on questioning on why such a speech was made in 1949.

When he was informed that polemic literature against Islam is full of blasphemies against the Holy Prophet, YB didn't even acknowledge that they existed. But what he said next was most revealing.

He let this slip.

It was his duty not to understand the Ahmadiyya view point.

He said

'Mirza Sahib, you may understand the subject clearly, but it is my duty that I am not understanding it correctly'
