/Volunteered at my very first Meet the People Session tonight; an opportunity to listen to citizen concerns and observe what grassroots volunteers can do to help in Kreta Ayer #onetheground
/mostly edge cases, where policy was not designed to handle unusual or unplanned for consequences
/incredible patience and compassion from volunteers; one constituent was filthy, reeked of urine, folks listened patiently to his issue and sent a letter
/saw firsthand the challenge for non-English speakers when all official correspondence is in English; Heard volunteers in mandarin, teowchew, hokkien, cantonese
/some tech ideas: would love to see NLP for dialects; easier ways to do case management that can integrate with ministry forms and processes; the reliance of mail seemed oddly archaic in hyper efficient Singapore
/ of course all Singaporean events have food, so ended with volunteer donated Yong Tau foo and fruit!
