Security forces used tear gas canisters, pellets & firearms during the clashes. Marsala, Hiba's mother, took her & her brother out of their house as they were suffocating from the tear gas. As they came out of their house a volley of pellets came their way.bbc.in/2E1ybDV

One pellet hit Hiba in her right eye and hit her mother's right hand while she was trying to protect Hiba.

In 2017, we highlighted 88 similar cases that illustrated how pellet firing shotguns are inherently inaccurate weapons & should be banned.

Hiba is a reminder of the human cost of the government’s heavy-handed crackdown in Kashmir.

India must #BanPelletGuns.

Danish, Hiba and now Sohanjeet - we said it before and we will say it again: pellet firing shotguns have no place in India.

We urge the new Government to #BanPelletGuns.

Pellet firing shotguns should have no place in law enforcement.
