Not for the first time, appreciating that girls squeal over their #LOLSurprise dolls no matter what ethnicity they discover inside
The viral spread of #LOLSurprise doll collections is quietly normalizing diversity in pretend play - kudos @MGAEntertain
Post-holiday #lolsurprise diversity data shows 32.4% black, 37.8% caramel (given hair, probable this is a combo of Hispanic and mixed race), and 29.7% white. "Surprise sampling" of 37 dolls procured over a roughly 18 mo period, via @Target CA/FL retail stores and @amazon.
Unsurprisingly given sample population, @calista's 3 favorites ("because they're the prettiest") are 66.7% black (beautiful braids and "ultra rare" sparkling copper hair were cited), 33.3% caramel (ultra rare golden shimmer cited), and 0.0% white.
Related: @calista masterful working of family to amass #lolsurprise dolls from literally all gift sources is impressive
Does anyone know what comparison data for @Mattel @Barbie is? The original white doll is noted as their "best seller," but I didn't see diversity sales data on first scan. eg, what are diversity sales, when purchaser knows diversity of doll ahead of time?
