There may not have been 525,600 #medtwitter moments, but 2018 was quite the year to learn, connect, and share the joy of practicing internal medicine and caring for patients, ourselves, and each other. Here’s our 2018 #medtwitter highlights real! 1/n
We drove, walked, ran, and biked to work (the unicycle commuter isn't a resident, alas...), even during the long winter nights, taking in the sunrise while pre-rounding or rounding 2/n
We came together to learn, with the input and involvement from each other, fellows, and faculty 3/n
including our FIFTH annual #InternIntensive
(which btw was recently written up and published bmcresnotes.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…)
imrespdx.com/imrespdx-blog/…
With faculty themselves pushing the limits of creative ways to teach 5/n
and channel the teaching they’ve bestowed on us to a much larger audience as well @AndreMansoor 6/n
and residents themselves pioneering innovative learning techniques during #NoonConference 7/n
and had the chance to learn medical and life knowledge from seasoned experts during guest lectureships @jpkassirer 8/n
We said goodbye to the class of 2018
(and that’s the resident retreat…not retweet…) 9/n
passed the baton to new #ChiefResidents 10/n
and hit an "auspicious" number of followers on the #ChiefResidents first day… 11/n
and welcomed the Intern class of 18-19 12/n
with a live-tweeted #BakedGoodsRounds 13/n
that many say was only topped by live-tweeted Dinosaur candy rounds on Halloween 14/n
Our peer scholarship support group, SPeAR (Scholarship Peer Advice and Resources), was formed—serving as a bridge between residents and faculty for mentorship and research projects 15/n
We celebrated resident accomplishments big and small
16/n
delighted a plethora of resident #OHSUscholarship triumphs, incl publications, poster, presentations (and this year all the more made possible by tweets, including #meetingtweeting about posters & oral presentations, by lots of faculty and fellows!) 17/n
and faculty honors, including PD @DesaisSima @acgme honor 18/n
We also came together to give back to our neighbors and communities
19/n
and learn from local advocacy experts @choo_ek @DralishaMD 20/n imrespdx.com/imrespdx-blog/…
and experience the excitement of our leadership and faculty share their expert voices at conferences and on podcasts including @thecurbsiders and @Plenary_Session @VPrasadMDMPH including Sima's incredible interview 21/n
as well as get to experience our residents make connections with and learn from thought leaders via #medtwitter and thanks to podcasts and the discussions they facilitated 22/n
as well as watch residents themselves find their powerful voice for advocacy, social justice, and social determinants of health 23/n
In all, 2018 was a year that exemplified #growthmindset in many ways (the 1 year incremental growth in Sima’s birthday unicorn not withstanding) 24/n
We connected as a community locally (@OHSUPulmCCM @OHSU_ID @OHSUNephrology) and with other residency programs around the country (@MedEdPGH @MayoMN_IMRES @CCF_IMCHIEFS and many more) 25/n
and cherished the time we had to enjoy each other’s company while being “out of hospital not available” 27/n

We hop 2019 continues to exemplify “Love where you work and the work you do there" (HT @PDX_Tom) 28/n
