Farmers gathering round to learn how to do a slake test from @soilhealthexprt @sectormentor #orfc19 #ORFC19

1) Place a sieve of soil into a bowl of water for 1 min. Floating = lots of air = indication of high organic matter #orfc19 #soilhealth

2) Lift the sieve up and down gently 5 times to break the top and see if it’s breaking apart

3) Have a look at the aggregates which have fallen through the sieve into the bowl. Lots of break up= less organic matter

4) Use a 0-8 scoring scale to quantify
