So here’s my story of non watching a film I’d really been looking forward to, given it was from the director of the kick-ass #AaranyaKaandam
After keeping a sharp eye on the schedule of releases, AND reaching out to the distributors of #SuperDeluxe in North India, I got no help
The distributor, from #Reliance messaged back, unhelpfully, the names of theatres which it was releasing today. I asked for times, please, because it was not available anywhere. No reply
The exhibitors, PVR, were much more helpful. To no avail, though. There were meant to be three shows in Delhi-NCR, but I was told that the ‘content hadn’t arrived’
Exactly what does this mean? Who is responsible for the ‘content’. And why did it not ‘arrive’?
This is a film from one of the most exciting filmmakers we have currently. What does it take to have a release ? No show at 2.30 at Noida. No show at 3.30 at Gurgaon, many miles away. I was told not to waste my time going coz there would be no show coz no ‘content’
Net net, no show of #SuperDeluxe in Delhi/NCR the day it was supposed to release. I wasted a full day schlepping to the theatre.
How do you think this makes us, the champions of good cinema from all over the country, feel? WHY is it made so difficult for us to catch the films we have been so looking forward to ?
