For our second installment of Meet the Deputies, we move from our longest-serving Deputy to our most recent one: Carrie, Deputy of #Elections! Carrie has been the Deputy of Elections since February of 2015. We'll let Carrie tell you why she decided to join the Auditor's Office:
"When I took this job, I thought it sounded interesting. I have a degree in political science as well as my JD, so politics and government has always interested me. But I had no idea how addicting elections could be!
I love the long hours, the training, the hustle and bustle – it means we are doing our best to make sure people’s voices can be heard. In a nutshell, my favorite part of working for the Auditor’s Office is that it is not just a job, but a mission.
It’s an awesome responsibility and one I am privileged to have." When Carrie has time for activities other than preparing to move into her family’s new home, she enjoys watching TV (especially reality TV – don’t hate!) and spending time with her family.
She also does the important things, like shopping for stuff she doesn’t need or want and planning vacations she’ll never take and meals she’ll never make.
Carrie wants people to know that the elections staff is made of individuals dedicated to the idea that everyone who is eligible to #vote should be able to vote, and she is proud of the work that full-time and temporary staff do to make elections run smoothly in #JohnsonCounty.
Thanks for all you, Carrie!
