It's been a big week for climate politics. Hundreds of you have been begging me to make a thread. Fine, twist my arm! Here we go:
@JoeBiden released a climate plan, and it's not bad. Wow! Joe really pulled it off--oh wait, parts of it are plagiarized. grist.org/article/claims…
Biden, who was the Democratic frontrunner long before he announced, also made a pretty significant pledge this week: the #nofossilfuelmoney pledge. That's a big deal. The Democratic nominee in 2008, Obama, received more than $1 million from oil and gas. grist.org/article/joe-bi…
Not to be outdone by Biden's plan, which has an international component, @JayInslee released ANOTHER climate plan this week. It charts a course for how to recommit to the Paris agreement. I wrote about why that's significant. grist.org/article/can-th…
And THEN, on top of it all, the @DNC called Inslee up (according to his campaign) and told him a climate debate ain't gonna happen. To no one's surprise, the governor is not happy with the committee's decision. grist.org/article/dnc-ja…
The DNC also told Inslee that if he participates in any non-DNC-affiliated climate debates, he won't be invited to future DNC-sanctioned debates. @rebleber has a good story on what the Governor's next steps could be: motherjones.com/environment/20…
LEST WE FORGET: The indefatigable @ewarren came out with another climate plan this week, too (her 3rd, I believe). The equally indefatigable @AlexCKaufman has the details: huffpost.com/entry/elizabet…
That's all for now. But next week should be a big one, too. Welcome to the brand new world of people actually giving a shit about climate change!
