Working on getting ready for the “Everything is a little bit broken; or, The illusion of control” talk by @wiredferret.
We are practicing some resilient behavior trying to get a presentation up without the right A/V cables... anyone have a Lightning-to-HDMI?

Did you know that Airplanes have an error budget? There’s a level of acceptable “failure” or lack of maintenance allowed prior to a plane being grounded - even if it’s just the overhead storage latch failing.

Control is an illusion. We are generally operating under the assumption of control vs actually having it.
Failure is inevitable! This is true in our systems and the systems we depend on and they systems those systems depend on.

How do we deal with the fact that failures are going to happen?
Adopt practices that enable the mitigation of failure (circuit breakers, isolation, rapid rollback) and understand your failure tolerance.
Also, “disasters take teamwork!” - @wiredferret
