As you may have heard, the Governor is calling the Special Legislative Session this Friday to address the pension crisis facing quasi-governmental entities.
Quick thread to make sure you are up to date.
As you know, in the 2019 session the supermajority passed pension legislation. Bevin vetoed it. I joined others in pushing for a full, open discussion on this issue, to pass the rate freeze that agencies need, and build a plan to address liabilities and long term sustainability.
Our bipartisan efforts were ignored.
The Governor chose to name call.
You know how I feel about that...

That said, the bill Bevin proposes not only threatens the inviolable contract, but it would take away options from hard working Kentuckians, and cost taxpayers (YOU) more $ in the long run.
This is taking a long term challenge and turning it into an immediate crisis.
There are solutions that make the hard decisions we must tackle without robbing workers. We can reach them in a bipartisan way.
However, that seems unlikely if the plan is to have this quick session over the wkend with just a simple majority vote and no full debate.
I’ll be loud this week. You know this.
I’ll be speaking up for our families whose livelihoods are on the line.
I’ll be speaking up for the essential services Kentuckians need.
Please stay engaged. We all must be locked in, because this is directly about our future.
