It's kinda funny how life turns out. Been thinking about this over the last couple of days & how I ended up in the line of work I'm in. As a kid, I wanted to be a hockey player. So much so that I turned plastic golf clubs into hockey sticks in the driveway. #DreamsComeTrue

My parents tell me that I used to play-by-play of myself scoring goals for the @NHLFlames, pretending to be @TheoFleury14 or Lanny McDonald or @GaryRobertsHPT. It didn't take long for me to realize I was never going to play hockey though. #DreamsComeTrue

As I got older, I didn't play a lot of video games but certainly played a lot of @EASPORTSNHL '95 & '96. I binge-played until all hours of the night & I distinctly remember doing play-by-play of those games as well (although I'd shut up if I heard my parents coming downstairs).

Fast-forward to today & while I'm not playing any sports & not doing play-by-play, it's incredible to think that I get to do what I get to do as game-day host with the @calstampeders & @WHLHitmen (also filling in with @NHLFlames & @NLLRoughnecks). I have way too much. #yyc

I always love looking back at the times in my life where things could have changed drastically. The butterfly effect gets kind of hilarious, even going back to my parents' decision to have us to go to Claresholm instead of Vulcan for high school. #DreamsComeTrue

Would I be where I am had I gone to Vulcan instead? I wouldn't have met wonderful people like @RHeidmiller, @JMHeidmiller & @KelseyHip. What if I had missed that one class in university where I met @CamThompsonCBS6, who introduced me to radio? #DreamsComeTrue

What if I got that job in Fort McMurray to be a producer instead of going to @RealCountry959? I wouldn't have met a great guy like @amorekfc. Had I not kept with this line of work, would I have ever met my wife? I dunno. #DreamsComeTrue

Many people save rants for these when they change careers or get a promotion or have some life-altering event. I just wanted to do it out of the blue. I'm so appreciative & grateful for all of it every day. My family, friends, the places I've been, the things I've done.

Thank you. All of you. I am legitimately the luckiest guy in the world. Every day, I get to live out a life of love that I know the kid doing play-by-play of himself scoring Stanley Cup winning goals would never have dreamed of. It's crazy. Thank you. #DreamsComeTrue
