In Chittor district of #Rajasthan, the fort and associated traditions of valour get spoken of, but the fact that the region has a number of Shiva temple sites tends to get missed. Pics from the site at Menal, dating to the 11th century. Time to write about these...

A story I did today in @TOIJaipurNews on two lesser known hill forts in #Rajasthan. Going beyond the six forts that have got UNESCO World Heritage status. Despite all the focus on its heritage, surprising how much heritage still remains obscure.

@TOIJaipurNews Another story in @TOIJaipurNews - on three sets of Shiva temples in the Mewar region - Baroli, Bijoliyan and Menal. Inputs welcome. timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/jaipur/in…

@TOIJaipurNews Another eg of Mewar's amazing temple architecture. Just 20 kms north of Udaipur, in a beautiful setting, lie the twin Vishnu temples incorrectly called 'Saas Bahu' (another site with this name!). Dating to the 10th-11th century, the structures show an eclectic range of sculpture.

@TOIJaipurNews Detailing from the amazingly sculpted Vishnu Temples at Nagda, north of #Udaipur. And these pics are from a single panel. Imagine the full glory of the temple in its prime.

@TOIJaipurNews Another sculpted panel from one of the Vishnu shrines at Nagda, #Udaipur. Notice the line of creatures at the bottom, half-men & half-birds. Some clutching musical instruments.

@TOIJaipurNews Did a #HiddenHeritage story for @TOIJaipurNews today on two little-known forts of the Marwar region - Siwana and #Jalore.
