Castro's thug tactics, and the lack of condemnation from Dems and their media, once again prove the Democrat Party is totalitarian to the core. Everything is politicized, every part of life must be controlled, and anything the "right" people do to gain power is justified.

The way Dems politicized one weekend shooting but not the other was not merely opportunistic hypocrisy. It's the way totalitarians think. Their ideology is good and pure, while all dissent is inhuman evil. Only good people are true believers in their ideology, by definition.

Totalitarians are always desperate to criminalize or medicalize dissent. They will always draw links between criminal behavior and dissenting ideology, while angrily insisting no such connection can ever be drawn to theirs.

Totalitarians, from Soviet Russia and Communist China to the modern Democrat Party, are always eager to brandish "studies" that "prove" dissent is a form of mental illness and dissenters are inherently dangerous.

When violent mobs gather in support of totalitarian principles, we are instructed to understand their legitimate grievances and anger. The targets of the violence are blamed for provoking it. This is happening in Hong Kong right now, with gangsters hired to organize the mobs.

Recall how Democrats constantly accused the Tea Party of violent tendencies and racism, fabricating incidents as needed to keep the narrative alive, but insist the violence of Occupy and later Antifa must be accepted.

Totalitarians are also very big on accusing their opponents of jeopardizing "unity" and "social harmony" by refusing to accept their ideology. A great deal of Chinese Communist repression is justified on these grounds.

Totalitarianism isn't necessarily the same thing as authoritarianism, although it usually leads to authoritarian rule. Totalitarians can be very loud opponents of "fascism" - in fact, they almost always are. It's useful for covering up their authoritarian tendencies.

Totalitarians believe their ideology is an expression of the general will, a true faith that all good people embrace, so they aren't "imposing" it by force - they're just dealing with criminals and reinforcing the rule of law by crushing dissent. China CONSTANTLY talks like this.

The specific policy payload contained by totalitarianism can vary greatly, although it naturally tends to favor centralized power. It is a grave mistake to believe that embracing either the Left or the Right makes one immune to the lure of totalitarianism.

The key attribute is that everything is politicized. Every action taken in life becomes a political statement. There is no safe harbor from the all-consuming political crusade. Everything is bent toward the cause and infused with politics, including sports and entertainment.

There is no benefit of the doubt, no extension of goodwill, under a totalitarian ideology. Either you conform, or you are an enemy. Every word is policed. The darkest motives are assumed for even the smallest action. "Agree to disagree" becomes a joke.

Political themes must be constantly transmitted and ritually accepted under totalitarian regimes, an act of communion with the pure ideological faith. This is a way of teaching the masses to be submissive and reflexively expel dissenting thoughts.

Public policies become prayers to the state. It matters far more if they reinforce the totalitarian ideology than if they are effective. Gun control is a perfect example of this. Forcing people to accept the principles of gun control ideology is the point, not fighting crime.

Always look for hypocrisy as an early warning sign of totalitarianism, because again, THEY don't think it's hypocrisy at all. They honestly hold two sets of standards. They are righteously entitled to say and do things forbidden to dissenters. Their thugs are activists. /end
