But here's a hot tip to keep you warm in the British summer: That poll doesn't show the public support cancelling parliament. And it isn't too late for MPs to stop no-deal.

It is quite profoundly unhelpful for people to become demoralised. And I do wish left, liberal, centrist, general sensible people would get over this psychological instinct about being outmanoeuvred all the time.

We're up against some of the most simple-minded, inadequate political figures I've ever seen. If you can't out-think that, what's the point?

And for the record, critics of no-deal can out-think that. It's Dominic Grieve vs Dominic Cummings on parliamentary procedure. Who do you honestly think is going to come out of that one with a win?
