"Tell me why Xi should not continue to wait out The World’s Greatest Negotiator, who keeps ‘dealing’ with himself?”
Trump just destroyed the short sellers. Now watch the market rocket up as the short sellers try to cover.

Once the Dow hits all time highs again and the short sellers, like this guy, finally cover, Trump will make some comment about EU or China tariffs sending the Dow down again. Rinse and repeat. Meanwhile, the USA economy continues to boom and the uncertainty continues to move..
...supply chains out of China. This action by Trump is only possible because people like this guy continue to underestimate Trump. It's a beauty to watch.
Trump is managing the stock market, forcing the fed to cut interest rates, and causing world wide economic changes...
...all while making sure that the economy continues to boom here in the USA. Most the rest of the world is experiencing low growth and/or entering a recession while the USA is booming. All because of Trump. He is playing this masterfully. Those long in the market are doing fine.
Those trying to play the market are not doing so well. It's almost impossible to play because with one tweet/word by Trump it can tank/rally. The short term market is basically due to emotions/sentiment. Before only the media could cause the herd to stampede. Now Trump can too.
The Dems want the stock market to tank. They want a recession. They want people to lose jobs. Trump wants the USA to do well. Trump can do this with little effort now because he did the work and created the leverage to be able to do this over the last several years.
Now with that leverage created Trump controls the stock market from his twitter account. One day he can atrack the Fed, the next threaten tariffs on Mexico or EU, the next tell OPEC to increase supply. I've never seen anything like it.
So, to answer the question posed at the start of the thread...If Trump didn't "negotiate with himself", none of this would be possible. Trump has basically created leverage on the entire world economy simply by "negotiating with himself"
