The Assange Stitch-Up: spelled out by award-winning journo Mark Davis, present at negotiations with Guardian and NYT in 2010. A summary:
"I was there. I stuck to him like glue, and when he went to the bunker, I went too. His idea of starting work was midnight.
"Theirs was to start at 9am and go home at 5pm. So every moment that Julian was there, I was there. So all those books, reports, articles from those journos about how they had integrity and Julian didn't, is a complete lie. I was a witness to it!
"It was the Guardian journalists (like Nick Davies) who had the cavalier attitude to the release of documents, complete with "gallows humour". "If they die they die" they said (in reference to witnesses/informers mentioned in the data).
"The only one who had concern about lives those people was Julian Assange. I repeat, Julian Assange. David Leigh wrote the most damning book about Julian. There were all over him, fawning over him. He had something valuable.
"David Leigh also released the password to the world to the original files in the book. This clown brought the documents to the public eye. Julian had redacted the password but Davies released it by mistake. (Q: why isn't he in jail?)
"The people who gave birth to this work was The Guardian. They created the Wikileaks database. They should be in jail. They created it, made it searchable to give it to the world. $100,000 probably to do the work.
NYT were also involved.
"Fossicked through the files to see what was of interest to them. It was apparent that they would risk the safety or identity of many people. I never witnessed a conversation where anyone took that seriously. Julian hadn't arrived at that point.
"Nick Davies said "we can't name this guy". I remember David Leigh who gazed across the room... "but we're not publishing it". (ie make Julian the fall guy). They'd put it all together, give it graphic look then release it with a link - but say 'Julian published it'.
"I raised it with Julian. He has a certain naivety about him. Times didn't want to go first so they cd say they were just republishing from Wikileaks. Julian thought they were doing it together, collective effort. That's why he's in prison and they aren't.
"They didn't care what happened to the people mentioned in the data. Julian did. Said: "we need to pull these names out". Threw them into a panic. Wouldn't get their publication date. Didn't want to assist. Julian said he'd do it with his people but would take time.
"No, we're going Monday they said. So went home Friday afternoon and Julian was left with the task and moral responsibility of trying to cleanse those documents. Worked from 9pm to 9am next day. Julian removed 10,000 names by himself with no support from Guardian.
"My favourite moment was Monday. They'd decided Julian was the man to walk the plank. But Wikileaks didn't release Sunday night (so they could report Monday). Meant to be live. Panic calls from NYT. We're holding the front page. Were saying Wikileaks put it out.
"Hysterical phone calls all night till 2pm holding the presses. Storm unfolded. Printing a lie. Wikileaks didn't publish that night or the next day. High priests of journalist ethics all published a lie and knew it hadn't happened. Set Julian up from the start.

Decided to RT my thread again given the failure of MSM to get a lot of its facts straight! It's a pity a multi-award winning investigative journo like Mark Davis who is also a lawyer and was present in the bunker isn't being heard. #ASSANGE #Assangecase
I had the privilege of interviewing Assange in September 2013. We spoke for 45 minutes about his Senate run. I was struck by his intellect and focus on integrity in government. independentaustralia.net/politics/polit…
At last, we see the bunker mob taking some responsibility and Albo stepping up. Please read and RT this thread for the real facts! #Assange
