Hello America. I’m a mostly rational, gay man and journalist from a working class background who lives in New York City and formerly worked for leftwing media. Let me explain a bit what’s going on here with this very upset white liberal. THREAD

Firstly, you are Twitter verified for no apparent reason, with only 1,000 followers, no bylines or actual cultural relevancy. So you either sucked a dick or paid someone for that check mark. Nice work.

You come off as one of those True Believers, a subset encompassing fringe lefty Americans that have grabbed the mic to espouse bizarre, off-putting conspiracy theories about racism and President Trump. You live in a bubble, and that bubble is also digital.

I live in the ghetto, somewhere you’ve never been. I can wear a MAGA hat to the corner store, full of black and brown people, with no problem. None. But if I take that hat to a gay bar, or any twee hipster establishment, may the Lord be with me. I’ll get assaulted. It’s happened.

MAGA hats aren’t symbols of hated or intolerance. They expose hatred and intolerance, from brainwashed, frightened elites. Case in point.

Instead of being open, curious, or interested in the world and your fellow countrymen, you chose hysteria and irrationality. Maybe because it gives you a sense of identity, purpose, and meaning. Boring people need that. But it’s not reality.
