41 days since the annexation of #Kashmir by India: communications shutdown, unlawful detentions, restrictions on movement, closure of schools, arrests of political leaders, restrictions on the right to practice religion in community.
110+ days since MNAs #MohsinDawar & #AliWazir were arrested & detained, with no information available on the status of their case or explanation of how this is lawful under the Constitution, esp considering implications for the right to political participation & representation.
It is not a triviliation of grave violations to highlight all violations of human rights: this goes right to the foundation of the concept of HR as universal, interrelated, interdependent & inalienable. Violations in any one part of the world affect the HR framework as a whole.
Dont want to believe me? What about Martin Luther King Jr., who said: "All men are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly".
Or how about the words of J.F.K: "The rights of every man are diminished when the rights of one man are threatened".
We cannot justify or tolerate human rights abuses in ANY part of the world, be it IOK or Pakistan; Guantanamo or New York.
Condemn ALL rights violations.
