Today OAG's Deputy AG of Public Safety Liz Wieser testified before @councilofdc about strategies to reduce gun violence in DC.
OAG prosecutes gun offenses aggressively, but we also invest in violence prevention strategies to stop gun violence before it starts.
#EndGunViolence
@councilofdc #CuretheStreets is OAG’s violence interruption program which uses public-health strategies that treat violence like a disease that interrupt, treat and stop it from spreading.
With support from @councilofdc, we are extending Cure the Streets to four additional sites this fall.
@councilofdc OAG also just litigated its first successful #RedFlagLaw petition designed to keep guns away from potentially dangerous individuals.

@councilofdc Our office also supports the Ghost Gun Prohibition Amendment Act of 2019 before the Council.
This legislation will help us protect public safety by prohibiting 3D-printed guns, which are undetectable and untraceable. #StopDownloadableGuns
@councilofdc Thanks to @CMCharlesAllen for holding today's important hearing on ways to reduce gun violence and enhance public safety in the District.
