Today is an unusual day in Parliament. For the first time since 1982 MPs will sit in the @HouseofCommons on a Saturday, dubbed #SuperSaturday.
They’ll be debating and voting on Prime Minister @BorisJohnson’s Brexit deal ahead of the 31st October deadline to leave the EU.
@HouseofCommons @BorisJohnson A Saturday sitting is extremely rare. 🗓️
The @HouseofCommons has only sat on four Saturdays since 1939 – for the outbreak of World War 2, to finalise business before summer recess in 1949, for the Suez Crisis in 1956 and when the Falkland Islands were invaded in 1982.
@HouseofCommons @BorisJohnson The @UKHouseofLords will also be sitting today, with members debating the UK's withdrawal from the EU.
@HouseofCommons @BorisJohnson @UKHouseofLords We’ll be streaming LIVE from both @UKHouseofLords and @HouseofCommons today.
