(1/5) It’s time for my Sunday Spotlight on #PublicHealth! Today, I am highlighting a frank conversation I had with @Medscape and @CDCInjury Director about #naloxone, the #opioid overdose reversal agent: wb.md/2Wspfhp

(2/5) Despite a huge ⬆️in #naloxone prescribing in recent years, far too little naloxone is being dispensed in many areas of the country – often where it is needed the most.

(3/5) One topic discussed was who should be getting #naloxone. People who are at risk for an opioid overdose should carry naloxone. I also encourage family, friends, & loved ones of those who are at risk to #GetNaloxone, because any one of us can save a life!

(4/5) Healthcare professionals, including pharmacists, also play a critical role in ensuring patients and loved ones that might experience or respond to an overdose receive #naloxone. That’s why @HHSGov @HHS_ASH released guidance on #naloxone prescribing: hhs.gov/opioids/sites/…

(5/5) While significant progress has been made, there are many opportunities to expand #naloxone access. Everyone has a role to play to help improve #naloxone prescribing and dispensing. Read or watch our @Medscape interview for more info: wb.md/2Wspfhp
