Starting my day at the second @michiganstateu Faculty Accessibility Fellows meeting of the year (#FAFMSU!) Today we've brought with us drafts of our own #a11y Statements, so I (WC gal) am itching to see what we do w. our drafts and how our projects (& programs) will evolve!

@michiganstateu A lot of cool conversations happening already as folks check in. Many of us are thinking about the differences between intention and outcome, invisible vs visible disabilities or needs for accommodation. We're starting to dig in to doing the work. #FAFMSU @michiganstateu

This is helpful for anyone/everyone/all the time so please share it. #FAFMSU @michiganstateu

@michiganstateu Turns out @michiganstateu has an #a11y checklist online, too. I'll link it here since folks may find it useful! #FAFMSU

How are YOU working to make your programming and resources more accessible? I want to keep doing better.

@michiganstateu Food for thought:

"The efficacy of your program is directly correlated to its accessibility."

#FAFMSU @michiganstateu

@michiganstateu Concept:

"What is 'fair?' What if the goal isn't necessarily some vague notion of 'fairness' but rather... teaching students who don't know stuff about a topic more about that topic, and working to make sure they understand?

What if THAT'S the job?"

Because... it is. #FAFMSU

@michiganstateu Let's think about barriers to access.

ThinkInclusive.us lists these:

Attitudes
Physical Barriers
Curriculum
Teachers
Funding
Expectations
Organization

When in your (educational) past have you encountered these barriers? What might've been possible w/o barriers? #FAFMSU
